Think of it this way. If you're playing in 640x400 Software Mode (the majority of players do) then what do you see off in the distance? Is that one pixel the colour of a team-mate, or some random colour that doesn't say anything about what team they're on? It's hard with female characters since they don't walk around nude like the male ones do.

......Well.....that is a very.....interesting....perception. (And now, I'll never play Sonic games the same way again.) But I do see what you're getting at. And since the changes in Tikal's dress are not very noticeable, that seems to make more sense. Very well, I have changed my mind about her colors. Now to take care of it.

But I do have to raise one question: If the "none" color for her fur is green, won't that change her dress as well? Or is there a way I could get around that?

I like to think of them as having furry clothes on, because the idea of them being indecent...or even unashamed of being indecent...blows my mind.

You also do have to take into account that sonic games were geared towards younger audiences. Most children that are young are going to be thinking "ooh! I'm going to save the world as a blue hedgehog!" as opposed to "eww, that guy's got no clothes" And now that I bring that up, I hadn't even thought of that the entire time I've been playing sonic games.

YAAARGH!!!

I've managed to successfully change Tikal so that her fur color will change (none has to be red, because I didn't give myself too many options). I am also trying to give her the proper snout. Still unsuccessful, considering everytime I've tried she ends up looking like a toucan. Seriously, if I colored it yellow and got rid of the black nose, we would have a toucan, people. It frustrates me so much!!!! *hits dad's computer with hammer* What? I wouldn't do that to my computer, only my dad's crappy 8-year-old machine. But meh, I continue to try. Must be a glutton for aggrivation.

Until next time (if I don't smash my computer)
Angelus, over... and I am soooooo out.

use STARTCOLOR and ENDCOLOR to make the orange bit change.

No, I used the right term this time. I know this because right now it looks like she's Tikal the Toucan. And I'm not lyin'. So I need to turn the beak into a snout

I've finally gotten back from the accursed hospital (no worries, nothing's broken). Here are the pics I promised (I deleted that post in order to avoid a triple). Sorry about the quality.
I will also point out that her "none" color is red, because green conflicted with her dress, and blue conflicted with her eyes and wrists.

Images deleted by me, because...well...they suck!!!

I think it was a bad idea to edit Amy, because the shape of the head looks wrong, and her dreadlocks are too short, and because of the pillow shaded hands, and I'm sure you're not meant to be able to see all of her headband.

Remember, this is what Tikal should look like:

Personally I say to stop this wad. Everybody keeps complaining every update that the whole thing needs fixed, which makes me suggest to cancel this altogether. Point is, Tikal is definently not a easy character to make.

Take a look at this, shows that Amy to Tikal is a good idea.

Okay, first off, to reply repsectfully to these two:
@Nitro: I'll go ahead and do that. My biggest problem is that I don't want it too wide just to keep her from looking too butch (guyish).
@Chrome: Thnx for backing me up.
And the eyes are an easy fix as well.

Now, to imploy tactical reason to these two:

1. The post you took that picture from was the one where Dr.P convinced me Tikal was an Amy edit.
2. Her dreads are shorter than knux's. A lot shorter.
3. I've also stated that the crown will be on the outside due to the hard work I put into it.

You think that's gonna stop me? You sir, do not know me very well. I've already invested too much of my time into this to let it die. I've also backed it up onto my dad's PC and my flash drive accompanied with XWE should anything happen to my laptop. I make regular updates to each as well, so there's no discrepancy between the original and the backups.
In short, I'm going to finish Tikal no matter what. Just like Dr.P was tired of waiting for Blaze, I'm tired of waiting on Tikal.

Until next time, people
Angelus, over and out.

Sorry to hear about your bike accident. D: I've had my fair share of nasty bike injuries too, but never had to go to the hospital.
Back on topic, you don't have to change Tikal's fur colour at all, since you can set the prefcolor to orange and have, STARTCOLOR=208, ENDCOLOR=223, so her fur can change color, ShadowRE is doing basically the same thing.

You call this a bad idea?
TIKLA1.png

According to your logic, MI, turning Sonic's sprites into Blaze would have been a bad idea, which is just a bunch of bologna. :P
Angelus, you're sprites are still stretched out, how are we supposed to give you feedback on the sprites if all that distortion is covering up all of your mistakes? I'm sure the sprites look much better than that, you still haven't told us what program your using, or even your laptop's OS for that matter.
There's also the option of improving on the sprite above and using it as a reference for the rest of the angles, it would save you a lot of time and let you focus on other things, like her walking frames.

Your Tikal turned out good because you've made enough changes to make that sprite look like it wasn't edited from Amy, which Angelus hasn't done, especially with her head.

But I don't see why he shouldn't turn Knuckles into Tikal either. They're both echidnas, so they have some features in common, such as their tails, and the shape of their heads are roughly the same too, right?

Then again, I think it is possible to make Tikal from editing Knuckles, Tails and Amy.

Meh, No worries, Dr.P. I'm invincible. *shot* Hold on, How'd you know it was a bike accident? I deleted the post that said it was.
I have actually stated what I use. I'm pasting to Windows Paint after taking a print screen. That's pretty much all I have in the manner of photo editing. I had something for editing, but I had a system crash and I lost it. Ah well, it happens. If you have any suggestions for what to use, I'm open to it, because I'm tired of annoying Paint. X|

EDIT: TAILS?!?!?!? Say WHAT???

*Checks Tails' eyes* Cripes, He's right! I'm only kidding, Iestyn. I didn't doubt you. And to answer one of your posts, at one time I started with knux as the base originally. She looked more like knux painted orange with a bikini. hehe.
Well, I'm off to see what more I can do to her.
