Welcome to...
Tails' Khaos Kontraption!
While everyone was having fun with the brilliant work that Dr. Eggman and his lab partner created, Tails decided to... have a little bit of fun with an add-on he can install to the karts' Kartridge ports. Who's the villain now?

This is the sequel mod to SRB2Khaos (which this mod will now replace, as surprise, this works in SRB2Kart...

It seems that giving a random item may not always work correctly (for example, if you are small, you will simply pass by)

edit: oh, this is already in issues

Wacky Textures doesn't seem to show up in List_Effects, nor can I seem to blacklist it...
And I don't know what causes this.

Universal Effects =/= Effects
It'd be hard to implement a blacklist feature for global effects, since that'd have to be an entirely different system, but I'll add that to my ever-growing to-do list for consideration.

For some reason in SRB2Kart, Sticky Slops likes to go into negatives on time remaining and stop effects from clearing. It even causes the mod to create question marks. Sticky Slopes will also act even when the is barely a slope or when it's not a slope relative to the ground around it by perception.

Think I know what the problem is, will be fixed in the next version.

I've seen a Mario 64 mod just like this one! (SM64 Chaos Edition) It applies a random effect every certain amount of time, creating ultimate chaos for your speedruns!
This Addon's Rating: ★★★★★

I had noticed some bugs while playing around with this mod.

Rewind and Position Swap do not change a player's lap counter and thus do not play nicely with sectioned courses. For example, if either effect puts the player behind a section line that they just crossed, passing the line again counts as a second "lap". In sectioned circuits, this causes the race to be unfinishable unless it happens on the final "regular" lap. Otherwise, section races can be finished faster than usual.

(Due to another bug, when the player crosses the end-of-section line a second time, the player remains 7th while everyone ahead each loses one place)

Certain effects that change a player's weight may cause infinite "Ring Sting" spinout that prevents the player from progressing unless something else overrides that spinout. It also prevents the "anti-grief detection" on that player from working properly.

CPU players will never try to respawn in this state, since it relies on the "anti-grief detection". Human players can hold Respawn in this state to respawn but will still maintain spinout. In certain courses, waiting long enough in this state may result in finishing the race during respawn (in v2.3, Insta-Item and Position Swap both reset the timer).

I had come across a strange "double FAULT" bug when playing around in this mod at Abyss Garden.

ringracers0183.gif

During POSITION, a player got "quicksand" which if it happens during POSITION, triggers a FAULT. Somehow, the respawn tried to move the player forward past the start line, triggering another FAULT.

When the race started, the second FAULT flag (for passing the start line too early) was cleared, but the first FAULT flag (for falling off during POSITION) was still on the player. This is similar to a bug that happens if the player explodes during POSITION just before GO appears.

ringracers0182.gif

Halfway through the race, the player fell off, and during respawn, crossed the section 2 finish line twice - finishing the race with a section 3 time of 0.028 and a total time of 1:26.400, over a minute ahead of the competition (and over 20 seconds faster than the Platinum Medal time).

ringracers0328.gif

While the FAULT flag is set on the player (provided that the player has not yet finished), it also stops the race end countdown from appearing. This creates confusion as it can make it look like the player suddenly gets time over'd when multiple players get time over'd in the same race.

I should probably suggest that the "quicksand" effect (and maybe certain other effects) be prohibited during POSITION to avoid such a situation.

Is there some way to add universal effects to the Blacklist?????

The reason for this is because i want to add the "Wacky Textures" effect to the Blacklist because It'll Become a factor to people(Like Me in that regard!!!) losing races in the "Grand Prix Mode" in general!!!!!

And also i want to have the ability to get info on the universal effects for the mod while using the console!!!!!

And finally are you making plans on updating the mod so that it'll be compatible with Version 2.4 of "Ring Racers" in the future?????

EeveeEuphoria updated Tails' Khaos Kontraption with a new update entry:

v1.1 - Fixes for v2.4, and SRB2Kart

Hey hi! So so sorry this took so long to actually happen, ADHD has been a horrible pain on me, but I've been recently medicated, and it's doing wonders for my ability to concentrate.

Hopefully there's no bugs that crop up from this update, but if there are, I should be able to address them a lot quicker! Here's the changelog:

  • Added MODINFO lump for DRRR v2.4+ to show info about this mod!
  • Updated the logo for the mod, once again done by the lovely ChrisFurry!
  • Updated...

Seemingly encountered a random game close while playing with this add-on at Carnival Night. At first, it seemed like an accidental Alt+F4 but it actually was not as no log (or RPT) was saved and some options were rolled back after relaunching.

Also, the infinite spinout bug from ring sting still persists (happens when weight difference is 9 or higher when the heavyweight player is stung), but replay desyncs so only have this screenshot:
