I'm creating a Sonic character from the game Sonic and the Black Night. Due to the sheer number of sprites required to complete the idea, I decided to create a 3D model to use as pre-rendered sprites.

The idea is to have the complete moveset from the original game, as well as some cool new additions. The filter is to give it the look of the original game's cutscenes.

DAMN, THIS LOOKS FIRE! The animation looks SO smooth!

He has style changes as well? This sounds like a character with a lot of depth. The closest we'll get to having Dante in SRB2.

One question. Is Excalibur Sonic going to be the Super Form?

Also, might I ask, what software did you use to make the pre-rendered sprites?

i agree this is an amazing, he's using pixel over it's on itch.io and steam https://pixelover.io/
never thought to use this program since most people used blender to do 3d pre rendered stuff like this. got to look at this program more.

There's a Style Switcher, just like Sonic has styles in SATBK. To adapt, I decided to make it like DMC. There will be Excalibur Sonic, but I'm just focused on making the base Sonic before that.
The pre-rendering software is PixelOver.

honestly tho this is great idea with a pre rendered sprite, i wonder how hard is it to do something like this? i seen people do this but only in blender, and i may want to try this out one day. keep on keeping up:worry:

can't wait for the release! i wish you good luck on this awesome mod!!
only thing i recommend is that the pre rendered sprites can be tweaked in order to look more clean, but other than that, this is already a masterpiece.

I'm curious, do you think at some point you'd release the model for Sonic for someone else to port it into the game? (If it's even possible, that is.)
Also I'm very impressed with the progress you've made so far! Looking forward to it!

I'm not very interested in releasing the model, because its purpose is to pre-render it and it took some work to make it, animate it and then transform it into a sprite.

So I tested several ways to make a wind effect when Sonic runs, because later I want to do that miniboost he has in SATBK.

Initially it looked pretty bad, and I was still thinking about how it would be done.

So I decided to make this distorted spiral model in 3 parts. In the end, I used pre-rendering again, so it gave the effect I wanted.
