[Open Assets] Sonic Adventure DX v3.1.1b

So... does anyone have any tips for beating Sky Deck in Tails' story? I really struggle with it and I always seem to run out of time by the time the goal ring is barely even in view

Use the spindash. When being launched from a cannon, you can jump and fly while keeping the speed burst that you got from it.

So, I will release an update that fixes and tweaks some stuff, alongside possibly (not exactly sure) nerfing the difficulty of Tails' Sky Deck and Speed Highway, as not just one person struggled with the former. I made them like this, so that they won't be so easy, but for some people, it went too far.
Alongside these, I thought about giving Twinkle Park and Casinopolis a visual overhaul, as they... well, could look better compared to the other stages. I've started work on the former, maybe it will make it, maybe it won't. What do you think?

Is there any reason why your progress only saves on Sonic's story? Completing the stories for the rest of the characters is far less easy when you have to do it all in one go (for instance, Sky Deck being a huge difficulty spike for Tails).

You can have progress saved by either having the stories run in order as part of the campaign or possibly loading a different set of maps for each chosen character as you unlock one at a time (as you complete the stories). I believe the latter should be doable with the current modding capabilities.

Sonic's Speed Highway: When you get to that one area with the spring and the crawlas and the Lance-a-bot. You have to look down and find where could the emblem be.
Tails' Speed Highway: It's in the downtown (the """At Dawn""" area)!
Knuckles' Speed Highway: It's at the top of the map. You have to, as it says, "climb and climb" to it. The gray concrete around the buildings are intangible from the bottom, meaning you can just climb through them.

I had the idea of somehow making the other stories save your progress, but I couldn't do that. What you suggested (the latter I mean, I don't... wanna incorporate all the other stories as a part of the campaign tbh) is definitely a good idea and I want to implement it, but I don't know how, aside from making all the other characters aside from Sonic an unlockable until you beat someone's story.

This is an amazing port, but I have a few suggestions on making it better.

- I feel like the idea of having a different order of maps for each character (as suggested by someone above) could work. How it would work is beyond me. If you did that, you'd have to branch out everyone's campaign to be the exact same length. I understand if that's not what you want to do, but that'd also be nice and balanced. I even have a specific order for each character. But therein lies the question: would Tails' racing, Knuckles' emerald hunting, and Big's finding Froggy work?

- Something I want to suggest is adding in an unlockable story for Gamma if the robot was added in prior to the level pack. He could go through the same levels as the original, and his objective would be to find either Fang or Metal Sonic at the end of each of his stages, and beat them up, with him fighting both of them at the end of his story.

- Perhaps you could utilize the Adventure Mode (ported by MIDIMan, linked here) for Sonic and Knuckles. I would say Tails and Amy, but Tails' short flight makes it impossible to win against Metal Sonic in stages like Windy Valley or Sky Deck or especially Speed Highway. And Amy just has an added Homing Attack that kinda sucks compared to Sonic's.

Even without these little things, this port is amazing.

Well, since I said it, I'm gonna make a list of stages for each character. This is based on how their stories will roll. The only story I won't list is Sonic's because he already goes through almost every stage. I'd say put Hot Shelter in between Sky Deck and Lost World.

Tails' Story:
1. Windy Valley
2. Casinopolis
3. Ice Cap
4. Final Egg
5. Lost World
6. Twinkle Park
7. Emerald Coast (at night)
8. Red Mountain
9. Sky Deck
10. Hot Shelter
11. Speed Highway

Knuckles' Story:
1. Speed Highway
2. Casinopolis
3. Twinkle Park
4. Emerald Coast
5. Windy Valley
6. Ice Cap
7. Red Mountain
8. Lost World
9. Final Egg
10. Sky Deck
11. Hot Shelter

Amy's Story:
1. Twinkle Park
2. Hot Shelter
3. Sky Deck
4. Emerald Coast (at sunset)
5. Speed Highway
6. Casinopolis
7. Ice Cap
8. Red Mountain
9. Windy Valley
10. Lost World
11. Final Egg

Big's Story:
1. Twinkle Park
2. Casinopolis
3. Ice Cap
4. Speed Highway (At Dawn)
5. Emerald Coast
6. Windy Valley
7. Red Mountain
8. Lost World
9. Final Egg
10. Sky Deck
11. Hot Shelter

Gamma's Story: (In case you do add his story as an unlockable)
1. Final Egg
2. Emerald Coast
3. Sky Deck
4. Windy Valley
5. Ice Cap
6. Red Mountain
7. Lost World
8. Twinkle Park
9. Speed Highway
10. Casinopolis
11. Hot Shelter

Well, there's my list. I tried organizing the order so that it would make more sense to go to the next stage from the previous one. I left some things the same, such as keeping the original first and last stages for each character. (Wasn't achieved for Knuckles, though.) I put Hot Shelter succeeding Sky Deck in almost every story because Sky Deck and Hot Shelter are respectively the exterior and interior of the Egg Carrier. It didn't work for Gamma because in the original game, Gamma goes to Hot Shelter AFTER the Egg Carrier crashed into the ocean, so having him traverse Sky Deck when it's crashed into the ocean makes zero sense.

...That's weird.

No, you don't need to push a button to make that trampoline bounce you up. Seems like the Android version is worse for this mod than I've thought? Oh nvm it's the web port, well you shouldn't use that with this mod.

Hey uh, so, my PC just stopped displaying shit on my monitor, so I now have an older PC that I used to use a few years ago temporarily, until I get a new one. Fortunately, all my games and stuff are intact, so I still can work on SADX v3.2. Unfortunately, the folder, where I stored almost every image that I used for it (so, textures, sprites, renders, etc.) is on that PC's hard drive, so I don't have it here. Aw. At least I still have v3.2.
This PC, due to its graphics card, now displays a Mexican filter (you know, that yellow filter used in some shows like Breaking Bad), so idk if I'll work on the update on this. But this is just temporary, I will get a new one soon! So, time to wait for it.
That said, I hope you're having a good day (or at least, a better one than mine)!
