Hey, welcome to releases!
Just to note though, your characters' DEAD sprites seem to flicker. This is a holdover from Kartmaker's template, which in most cases needs a quick look-over with SLADE to make sure everything's fine and dandy. It'd be nice to see this patched up in an update, though!

Had to set them through Kartmaker to fix some issues and completely forgot to remove the spare death sprites. Thanks for the heads up, I'll be releasing a hotfix shortly.

I used to love Skullgirls, haven't played in ages. Are there plans to only add specific characters or do you hope to eventually make most/all of the roster?

I hope to keep working on it until I'm done with the main roster/no longer able to do it.

Wait 'til version 3.
 
One of the two racers that will be released on the next wave is finished, along with the first follower of the pack.

v1.2: Graphical Update + Follower Category Addition

This update gives characters an (urgent) graphical update:
  • Most important: fixes a mistake spread across all characters where the north facing sprite places the wheel behind their back.
  • All characters have had graphical updates, mostly related to aliasing or misplaced pixels

Hey everyone!
The mod has been lacking updates for nearly half a year now, but it hasn't been abandoned. I'm in a particularly difficult year in college and have to put my whole attention to it. But I'm very much still making a roadmap for this mod behind the scenes.

Aside from the two characters planned for next update, I also want to revisit some of the sprites for two main reasons:
  • Some of the drifting sprites have incorrect head sprites
  • The addition of joke signs
Each update will also expand on the roster of followers. So it's quite a lot to do for the next update with such little at my disposal.



Anyways TL;DR: The project is still in development, next update will include the two next characters, some more followers and some graphical updates to previous characters.

I'm soon going to be back on working on the SkullracerS mod, so I want to setup a roadmap for both people who are following and myself over the upcoming months.
There's going to be an update before proceeding with V3. It will focus mainly on graphical updates and additions to already existing characters:
  • Revisiting Filia's shading
  • Fukua redesign
  • New Joke signs
  • Filia's shading is a character that particularly bothers me as her shading is too soft in comparison to the contrast present on the rest of the cast and the OG roster. All characters will receive a few tweaks, but I think Filia will be the most noticeable.
  • Fukua is getting a full on redesign of her sprites. The bit of reusing sprites for another character is only funny for so long before it starts to feel like a missed opportunity. Another issue is how her silhouette is identical to Filia's, which can be an issue in-game when it comes to distinguishing between two characters that have polar opposite stats.
  • Death sprites as of now are done in a very simplistic style that people who've seen my work are perhaps familiar with. This decision was purely done because I had no faith in my abilities in doing sprite art. Now with more experience doing character mods, I'm confident in designing death sprites that are more akin to the actual driver sprites and aligned with the base game's artstyle.
  • Some other miscellaneous changes include the addition of Joke signs and updated turning sprites (they had the wrong head sprites this entire time. I actually fixed them last year, but haven't updated the game since).

V3 Expectations:

As of now, V3 is going to limit itself to the release of four characters:
  • Annie
  • Double
  • Beowulf
  • Florence
It's a big order, so it might take the entire summer. Because of that, I'm being tempted to release Florence before V3 as compensation.

...V4?:

Too early to speak about this update, but to pass the time I sometimes do art for the future characters. So...
