pastel updated Redberries with a new update entry:

Post-release cleanup

  • Fixed crash when opening the sound menu... again
  • Replaced the auto-assign shield ability button thing with instructions attached to mapping the Shield button
    • This was way too easy to press on accident and mess up your controls
  • Removed some Reveries leftovers
    • Shield is now only referred to as Shield Ability and not as Peelout
    • PeeloutSpecial hook renamed to ShieldButtonSpecial
      • This change will be added to Reveries later for compatability...

any chance we'll be getting this on flathub? i LOVE the gamepad refactor on steam deck

so the github link for the macOS version is not working (please fix!)
There has never been a macOS version of this build. I can't reasonably maintain that port without a system to test it on, especially because it breaks if you look at it funny and thus doesn't even compile at the moment.

Since you already moved the Whirlwind Shield emergency jump to another button, do you think you could add an option to remove it from Jump?
Honestly that jump makes the shield feel more like a negative than a positive if you have any way to use abilities off of springs . . .

candelavla updated Redberries with a new update entry:

maintenance update

All major features included with Redberries have been merged into the SRB2 Classic fork: https://srb2classic.net/ so you'll want to keep an eye on that if you like custom builds with new features. Redberries in turn will be entering a stable, maintenance and bugfix only state.

Changelog:
  • Updated codebase for parity with Reveries
  • Added new quit messages to fit the style and width of the new quit prompt
  • Some internal optimisations
  • Fixed horizon line rendering in...

Possibly not the right thread but I don't see a better one for it (maybe there's one coming?):

What's the deal with SRB2 Classic? What's the difference between it and Redberries or Vanilla?
That link tells me nothing, and since Redberries is my current preferred version of SRB2 I'm pretty interested.
It's an (unofficial) community continuation of SRB2 2.2.X meant to provide additional patches and improvements to the game as STJr has almost entirely shifted development focus to 2.3. It's still in beta and I don't think any sort of release is planned until after 2.2.16 (probably the last official 2.2 patch) is out, but development is very active and I wanted to raise awareness of its existence since more contributors (and especially more bug testers) are good for the health of the project.

Basically, it's an actual "community build" of sorts, while the two SRB2 Cherry forks are just my personal pet project.
