Time for the holiday pic selection of 2020!
Cat in Ortisei, South Tyrol - EF 20-35 f/2.8 L - 35mm, f/6.3, 1/40, ISO 200
Just like every year, there's got to be cats! This little fella followed me around a bit, seemingly interested in my soft fabric bag with groceries, and after being pet a few times actually sat next to a tree and started looking to the side.
Perhaps he'd seen something, but it looked like he was posing for me for a good minute or so. Adorable.
Road passage in the woods near Resciesa, Ortisei, South Tyrol - EF 20-35 f/2.8 L - 35mm, f/5.6, 1/125, ISO 200
Sadly the weather was dark and foggy/rainy for most of my holiday this year, which did on one hand make the temperature nice and chilly, but on the other made for poor lighting and lots of boring shots, photography wise.
Sometimes, though, the almost mysterious, foggy atmosphere in the woods looked really great, like near this gate next to the Resciesa monorail.
View down and to the side of Mount Seceda, Ortisei, South Tyrol - EF 20-35 f/2.8 L - 20mm, f/8, 1/320, ISO 200
At times, the weather changed from just foggy and dark to cloudy and dark, and while the poor lighting remained you could actually see pretty far.
Especially with many different shaped clouds being below our level, that sometimes made for nice looking landscapes as you can see. This picture was taken from the heavy cablecar (60 seats) which reaches the top of Mount Seceda, one of the tallest spots around the valley.
The Sella mountain range, together with Mount Sassolungo from Mount Seceda, Ortisei, South Tyrol - EF 20-35 f/2.8 L - 20mm, f/9, 1/800, ISO 200
During the night before our last full day in the valley, a lot of snow fell onto the taller regions all around, leading to beautiful views like this.
Many of the paths were not accessible due to freezing ground, sadly, but we still took the entire day to rush around and see as many snowy locations as we could using the paved roads and cablecars.
