I hope you can do custom feet, that was the running, we need walking similar to metal sonic. If you can't do that then try to do the back frame for him.
EDIT: Ravey, I'm going for SA style, not old version. And I'm not doing custom, I'm editing the official sprites.
 
I'll give the running animation a shot once I have the sprite down, i'll try and get it closer to your style too.
 
Sendspace? It's an animation, I have the Sprites, and when he blinks, I'll get rid of that stuff round his eyes.
 
You really wouldn't be able to see that since you only see the back view unless you rotate the camera or use analog.
