Need help with port forwarding

So i've been attempting to port forward this game and for some reason, despite doing everything that the tutorials ask me to do, it still doesn't work.
I made sure to change my IPv4 to one that is outside the range of my DHCP, restarted my laptop and then I forwarded my port, it didn't work.
I'm assuming that it might be related to the fact that, for some reason, I have two IP addresses, and the one I need to use to be able to forward my port is private, and the public one is completely unrelated.
Any ideas on what to do?

Basically trying to allow my computer to connect over the internet with other public or private computers.
I need to do this so other people can connect with me on a private server with my IP.
I kind of don't know what you're talkin' about, but but from this answer, it's called multiplayer.

Leave dis to me Spongebob.

So basically in order to port forward, you're gonna need to access the settings on your internet router, you'll probably need to enter in a password, so you're on your own with that. Here's a website that should teach you how to port forward: https://www.jameds.org/portforward/

Once you're in, you should look for a setting called "port forward" (the layout of the settings page will vary from router to router, so you're kinda on your own.) Once you're there, open up UDP port 5029 and bada bing bada boom you're ready to host!

Learning how to port forward can be tricky because in order to access your routers settings, you'll have to enter in a password, meaning that other people won't be able to help you with that. In addition, the layout of your routers settings will vary, so again, you're mostly on your own in that regard.

That's the thing, i've done most of this stuff, and some of the pages to check stuff like this actually tell me I have the port forwarded for SRB2, and it still won't work. I genuinely don't know if this is from my side.

It's likely the game being stubborn.

Is your game connecting to the master server? In order for others to see your server, you have to be connected to the master server.

You should also check if Allowjoin (listed as "Allow players to join" in the server options) and downloading (listed as "Allow add-on downloading" in the server options) are turned on.

I have both of them as specified. I think I might be doing something wrong.

Go into windows firewall, and look for SRB2's firewall settings and make sure communication with private networks is set to ON. Once you do that, go into your wifi settings, go to the network you're using, and change it from "Public" to "Private" if it's not already like that. If all that still doesn't work, just look for a setting named DMZ in your ISP's admin panel.
By the way, if you ever get the server up and running and plan to use a lot of addons, make sure to increase the "maxsend" cvar, or else other players might not be able to join and they will get a cryptic error message that will make you go nuts trying to find out how to fix it.

Nevermind don't use DMZ. It's the only thing that worked for me and it's very insecure.

Maybe just use ngrok.

Actually, I think if you have some field in your port forwarding rule that says "External IP" or "External IP Address", change it to "0.0.0.0" (man this step was so hard to find) and make sure that your friend uses your public IP address to join instead of the private one.
