Missing: F_SKY1

Like the title says, I'm missing F_SKY1 for some reason. I'm unable to find it using Doom Builder and I have it looking in the srb file. So why is it missing?
 
It's missing because F_SKY1 isn't an actual flat. That's to say, it's not in the format (or location?) that Doom Builder might expect.

F_SKY1 tells SRB2 that it can draw sky there. Even when F_SKY1 is considered invalid by Doom Builder, it will still work in SRB2.
 
just ran the test again and F_SKY1 showes up in srb2 like you said it should. Thanks :D
 
I'm gonna have to ask - why was F_SKY1 removed altogether? That is to say, it behaved exactly the same in the original DOOM games, but THEY had a flat with the same name so you could assign the sky texture to a floor or ceiling in various editors with ease. SRB2 lacks that, and I think that's pretty lame.

For now, I made one for myself out of GFZSKY, and it behaves as it ever did - although now I can actually select it from the texture browser in DoomBuilder, instead of having to continuously type it in manually. In other words, I'm covered, but it still just boggles me why it's been missing for so long.
 
Yeah, we could use an F_SKY1 image even if it looks silly (FreeDOOM's F_SKY1 is the baby sun from Teletubbies. D: ).
 
That's the main reason why I still use gfx.wad really. I altered it to where it would blank out a few textures I would likely never use and showed F_SKY1.
