Well, since you're new, you can always try out the mod "SRB2 The Past."
It's a huge mod showcasing the growth and development of SRB2 since it's initial release in 1998, and even has things from before that.

Nearly every version of the game is preserved on the archived downloads section of the website. There’s also a collection of scrapped levels from 2001, when the game was very nearly completed. That one’s not on the website though.
