Is it bad that I like 2.1 and before it instead of 2.2?

Maybe someone can relate, but after i first got my introduction to SRB2 and its history, i grew a liking to what came before. Though i dont understand why, Maybe because of the art or the music, does anyone have a reason why i think this?

There are people who download and play content for version 2.0 and earlier, so you would not be a rare instance. The game being open-source means builds going all the way back to the original Halloween demo can be found somewhere online.

For some, it is about experiencing the history of the game in an authentic manner. For others, it is the challenge of building a level that tries to meet 2.2 standards without things like slopes. Still for others, there are a lot of older levels and other content that have never been updated that can then be played. There is no expectation that everyone be on the same build but take note that the latest is recommended for new Addons & More content.

Old SRB2 has a very different aesthetic that's more amateurish, which is what I personally like about it.
Liking old SRB2 is no different to something similar to liking old Minecraft, for example.

Whatever you like is your opinion and nobody can invalidate it. There doesn't have to be an explicit reason. Just because you don't know the reason yourself, that doesn't mean it's stupid.
