Character wadding contest.

First, I made it in Photoshop :P

Second, mine wasn't ripped from some other game, if you look at the left side of the Sonic Heroes picture, you'll notice it doesn't even loop well at all >.>.
 
My entry is not the Heroes sky that was a test. For all you people out there who want to make a sky in XWE I am writing a tutorial page right now. I will tell you when a put it up.
 
You put a lump in that's named GFZSKY and is the same resolution as the original lump. Why bother writing a tutorial, if it's that simple?
 
WOW. I just post one little suggestion and like mold on a slice of bread in a damp closet, it starts growing, and... *ahem* anyway, i'm glad people are actually listening to me. =)

Well thats the most easy way but it should be seprate from GHZSKY. Making a custom sky is very easy but people here cant seem to figure that out.
 
I'm dissapointed by the lack of creativity in these skies. I wanna see someone rip the Mystic Caves background from Sonic 2! I wanna see some special stage weirdness and originality!

Yes, I realize I'm asking for too much...
 
You have not seen my Sky yet so how can you be dissapointed. I could include some Sonic 2 Skys in there for you. But my main contest Sky will be totally original.
 
Is anybody making any progress with their characters? I gotta know to get an idea for a deadline.

Didn't think anyone would take me seriously... O.o If you're serious about the Sonic 2 sky, that would be beyond awesome. Quality isn't a factor to me at this point...
 
I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I agree with Ritz. We have so few sckys as it is, anything that tiles and is in SRB2's pallet would probably be loved.
 
Heh, next thing you know we'll be having contests where you have to design an entire single-player level with only 10/20/25 sectors allowed... Highly doable, though you'll need to know EXACTLY what it is you want to do as far as heights go.
 
You can make a full single player stage in 25 sectors easily, you just have to know exactly what you're doing, and you won't have very much ceiling variance or anything really cool looking.
 
Of course, ceiling variance isn't of much concern if you're doing an outdoors-y stage. Also, you'll get more actual LEVEL done if you ignore FOFs - it'll limit what you can do, but there still IS a lot that can be done without them.

My only concern would be how easy it would be to do with SRB2, period; I know it can be done with DOOM, since it WAS done with DOOM, and done very well. But, those were the traditional indoors-y stages, for the most part, which SRB2 doesn't always excel at...

Oh, and I suppose Thok Barriers don't count, except for any EXTRA ones you add for effect (like a change in Floor height, for instance).
 
That'd be a pretty interesting contest, actually..

I think im going to need a month more to work on my character wad. Ive have been busy with other projects but am going to focus on the contest now.

Edit: Ok what seems to have been a month has become a day. My Character wad is almost done. But I have run into a problem, XWE will not let me make lumps with lowercase letters in them. If anyone knows how I can resolve this problem please PM me.

CZ64 helped me with the lowercase letter thing. How is everyone else's wads doing? Well I am not going to tell who my character is till the deadline. When that is, no one knows. I still have to work on my sky wad a bit.
 
There was a SP level contest before, but it only got 3 entries.
