Bluelight's Hangout Maps - Lightweight hangout maps.

Warning: These maps are designed with OpenGL in mind, they may have issues in Software mode so it's recommended to use OpenGL

Finally, after years of development I feel confident enough to post these maps.

Let's take a look at the's maps, shall we?

Update 1.0.1 fixes a few issues with the maps and updates some texture files, this update also optimizes the game logic use of Seaside Town, thanks AirFox for fixing that up for me and making this update while I have no PC, there's also a spoiler hidden in this if you look hard enough.

With this I also add optional DLC to this, Greenflower City Legacy pack, a small map pack containing 2 old versions of Greenflower City, an unfinished remake and the original 2.1 map I made when I had just...

Brand new update for the map pack, barely adds anything, except fix a few things on Seaside Town

New patch for the pack, version 1.1.2!

This update brings a few bugfixes and updates a few textures around the maps, no new map yet, haven't thought of one yet, my current active project is a ringslinger map which I may release once I'm happy with it.
Mayhaps if you like blue nights and the beach that ringslinger map may be for you.

I want to check out more of these maps when I've got the time, they look really well made!

I experienced 'Greenflower City' from that public hangout server called "Vega's Paradise"; the map was kind of in a sttrraaaaanggeeee atmosphere when I first joined because there were a couple on the mods in the server I thought were strangely absurd but funny at the same time + other things & things in the map (it was my first time there) — that's a whole story on it's own. But one of those things in that map that's so funny to me is this:

This party disco was one of the places I came across and this picture.... THIS picture of Knuckles just saying "FUN!" in front of the building makes me crack up every time I see it. It became this joke with myself and had kind of a history with it, I don't really know why.......... it's just one of those things I love for some reason as maybe small as it is....

It got THAT funny to me to where that I just had to re-create that little picture of Knuckles saying that from the ground up because it is low resolution — but it's made me curious; who had the idea to put this here? Did you put this in the map, Bluelight? ...... I've just gotta ask at this point!


Speaking of re-creating it, I plan to list Bluelight as well as the the map collection here in the credits of the project files. Maybe no one really minds and that it's a small thing; just a silly picture of Knuckles with a speech bubble above his head, but I still want to at least give credit to the original creator and picture this map is from, as well as the Robo Blast developers; for the drawing of Knuckles!

And why I also want to absolutely be sure is because of the policy of permissions on the Overview page, quoting:

Modify: ASK ME - Maintain: IN MY ABSENCE - Others must ask me for permission before modifying my submission or use it in their own work, and I reserve the right to say no for any reason. However, if I can no longer be contacted, I give permission for my entire submission to be maintained by others.

Though my purpose is to not be modifying the map, I assume that this image could be considered content within the map. And so; I just want to be sure

Amy in the Disco was a thing I added for fun, I figured there'd be times where players would accumulate in there to party or whatever, so i put Amy there as a fun thing to annoy at least one of the players (there's actually more Amies in a box outside of the map, nothing special, just fun)

As for the Knuckles saying "Fun!", I really only added that because I was like 16 or 17 at the time and didn't think much of it, I just thought i'd add something to the outside sign
The sign actually has some details I did NOT intend to add originally, like the weird tails eye shape below and the D getting cut off at the bottom.

As for you making a new high res version of it I wouldn't mind, in fact i could implement it in full resolution when I port the map to UDMF in the next major release that's coming Soon™

Sorry for the VERY late answer, I'll post updates soon. If you want you can message me the drawing, I'll be sure to credit you if you do want it used in the actual pack!

I'm not entirely sure about this, I might, I might not, I wanted to make these objects like the random NPCs in SF94 Server, I KNOW it's reusable but I really need something that allows me to tweak things per NPC(color, skin, etc) if i wanna have that work, I also wanna avoid cluttering object IDs since Hangout servers tend to have very little open slots and it's hard to avoid them getting replaced at times.

Here's a little spoiler btw
AirFox may help me implement SF94 dialogues rather than using command scripts, so if all goes right it's gonna be part of the next update, there's also another map in development straight from me right now, tiny spoiler;I'm gonna be doing a lot more interior deco than I'm comfortable with usually, I REALLY wanna test myself with this map, so stay tuned for that.

Update 2.0, the update that made your life better.

After a loooong hiatus after a good PC died I've managed to push out this update on a very limited laptop.

First off, we have some minor-ish upgrades on Seaside TownView attachment 193933
I've made the coast a lot smoother, it's no longer a flat wall downwards, it now slopes down like a real coast.

I've also added some new enviromental sounds to it.

Minor Bugfixing and Minor Lore Expansion.

Welp, i rushed a bit last minute and left in a minor bug where the dialogue for Aerial up in the clouds was incorrect.
Sumida's Residence now has a map icon too.
Oh yeah I also added some NPCs to Seaside Town's hell and gave them some quick lore.
