A thing I've been asking myself about SRB2 lately

I've been playing SRB2 since 2020, and have been adoring the game since, but I just have one question, Whats up with 2.2.14? Its been quite a while since we got the teaser of the new sprites, so unless its a overhaul..whys it taking so long..?

Just to be clear, this video is (nearly) completely false information. The only thing that's actually going to be in 2.2.14 that is shown in the video are the new sprites. The physics changes aren't going to be in SRB2 until 2.3 and the stage showing off the new physics is just a test stage. A full list of 2.2.14s current changes can be seen at https://git.do.srb2.org/STJr/SRB2/-/wikis/Changelogs/2.2.14 (Doesn't include the sprite changes)

It's prob just the resprites we are waiting on, most of the other changes that's going to be in 2.2.14 is not really that "big" lol

Since 2.2.12 a resprite has been happening
its been delayed twice
once cus "oh shit"
and another because of a hotfix

This link shows the percentage of 2.2.14 that's done.
It might not be accurate though, because they might add a brand spanking new cool feature that pushes it back.
After all, it lists 2.3 as being 66% done.

absolute lie. or more accurately, a misinterpretation. 66% of these indicate closed issues that are currently in 2.2 and will not be fixed until 2.3 is released (such as "Store gamedate/save files in a subfolder to reduce clutter" or "Scale Rework"). in fact, you don’t even have to pay attention to this number

Milestones are just a reference item that is added as pull requests are made and are by no means a roadmap or a todo list.

If the 2.2 dev. cycle is any indication, I would think we will eventually get more official announcements and media that are not limited to the Discord server.

I will say this though, 2.2.14 is 93% done, so IF it is accurate(Big if there), we might have some hope there

2.2.14 is probably likely to not even have the new sprites. Apparently there's some weird hardcode issues with smoother animations or whatever. The biggest change is going to be the virtual removal of Linedef and Sidedef limits, so you're going to see much bigger levels with much more detail.
