Why does super tails not exist in SRB2?

I already have considered Sonic Mania. I know Sonic Mania was different. They can totally add Super Tails, and even add super forms for Amy and Fang. But Sonic Mania didn't exist when SRB2 was made. 2.1 came out like 5 years before sonic mania.

Seriously, classics mean OLD, not *came out in 2017*. Just because Sonic Mania plays like a classic and has classic levels does not make it a classic. It came out like 23 years after sonic 3 and knuckles. You wouldn't call generations a classic game though it has classic sonic in it and has levels from sonic 1 2 cd and 3&k

Understand, Classics mean "the starters" of the series, the original quintology of Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic & Knuckles. Which were all released before the year 2000. Mania is 2017 so it is not a starter of the series or anywhere near the original games released during a certain time period (1990s if you couldnt tell)
Sorry to sound like a contrarian but Sonic Mania is in fact a Classic Sonic game for two simple reasons:
  1. It features Classic Sonic's design as the main character (and not a side one like in Generations and Forces)
  2. It's the direct sequel to Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Sonic Mania is just a "what if Sonic got a 2D game on the Saturn" and it's as much of a classic game as Sonic Adventure is a Modern Sonic game (yes, even if this one is over 20 years old).

I KNOW it has the same gameplay as the previous 2D Sonic games with spindash and that makes it a classic game, but again, SRB2 was released after Sonic 3 & Knuckles, in S3&K Tails needed the super emeralds, and couldn't go super without them in both Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 (standalone). Even when 2.1 was released Sonic Mania hadn't come out yet, so Super Tails with normal chaos emeralds still didn't exist. Version 2.2 doesn't have an excuse other than it not wanting to do what Sonic Mania did.

Sonic Mania in my opinion is different from S12CD3&K idk why yall saying its a direct sequel, i always thought it was just based off of the classics. It being based off of the classics does make it a classic sonic game, as opposed to a boost game, but... was it explicitly stated it was a sequel? It could be an alternate dimension like how modern sonic is a different dimension.
Classic Sonic didn't "grow up", Modern Sonic doesn't look like a grown up version of Classic Sonic. It's probably a Parallel Universe unless you're stubborn and stupid. So we don't know if Mania takes place in the same thing as S12CD3&K unless it was shown or stated.

In one of the official Sonic Mania manuals.

It has been stated before repeatedly that Sonic Mania has S1 through S3&K occurring at some point before it. This shows it as well with "Some time after saving Angel Island".

Why we know from context clues in the games themselves Mania is a sequel to S3K: At the end of Mania's main campaign after finishing the fight at Egg Reverie, Sonic is transported through a portal. He emerges through the other side of this portal to save Tails in Forces, who recognizes him. This confirms he's the same Classic Sonic as from Generations. Generations Classic Sonic's history is identical to Modern Sonic's history up until just before Sonic Adventure, at which point Generations takes place for him and then he returns back to his time. It is after this Mania takes place, making it a sequel to all the old 2D classics and Generations from Classic Sonic's perspective.

And, on top of this, if you are in the camp of the timeline split, you'd know that the timeline only split once Generations occurred. This means that at LEAST Sonic 2 had occurred up to that point, and considering Sonic and Knuckles know each other in Mania, S3&K HAD to happen.

Ergo, both in-game context clues and the introduction manual for Mania make it a requirement for all 4 of the original Classic games to occur, especially if you factor in Metal Sonic being in Stardust Speedway in Mania, and the context clues in-game implying Robotnik was headed to Stardust Speedway to pick up Metal.

It's impossible for Mania to occur without a form of ALL 4 of the original classic games.

I don't get why you're getting mad at me for telling the truth... Sonic Mania is in a way the real Sonic 4 (while ironically Sonic 4 is just a 2D modern Sonic game like Advance or Rush).

I really like Saturn Sonic but he's still Classic Sonic (as much as Sonic in SA1 is still considered to be Modern Sonic despite his overal shape that was closer to Classic)

Anyway, let's not derail the thread and let's focus on Super Tails in Robo Blast 2. Considering how big the stages are I'm all for the infinite flight for him if he ever get a Super Form (Flickies' are kinda useless when it's not against bosses)

I've covered this before. Sonic 4 is the real Sonic 4. That is the truth. Not Mania, not Sonic and Knuckles, not Chaotix, not Advance. Regardless of how much the community dislikes Sonic 4 and wants to acknowledge another game in it's place, that doesn't make it Sonic 4 any less. Sometimes games suck. If Sonic 2 sucked, that wouldn't make Sonic 3 the "real" Sonic 2. Sonic 2 would still be Sonic 2.

I don't understand why super form debate threads always fall back into lore debates. SRB2's gameplay was never about following lore, and it's not like Sonic games have ever been consistent with each other (or sometimes even themselves) regarding storyline.

Also, "the real Sonic 4" is a figure of speech, I don't get why you have to take it literally.

I really don't want to argue with you (and I guess that it will only stops once a mod will warn us) but it's pretty much agreed upon fans that Mania is more worthy to be the real sequel to Sonic 3&K than "Sonic 4" (which by the way wasn't even planned to be called it at first, it was Sonic Mobile during development because it was made for smartphones) like how Sonic 2006 was the closest thing to a Sonic Adventure 3 we ever got.

PS: Before Mania was announced Sonic Advance was sometimes nicknamed "the real Sonic 4" simply because it was the closest to the Genesis game we got (despite Pocket Adventure being made by Dimps and featuring Classic Stages with Classic Musics).

Also, "the real Sonic 4" is a figure of speech, I don't get why you have to take it literally.
Exactly, like how Forces is sometimes called Generations 2 (because of having both Classic and Modern Sonic in it)

As I've mentioned before, majority opinion does not equate to fact. Just because a lot of people agree on something doesn't make it true. Everyone could start agreeing the moon is made of cheese, that doesn't make it so. Sonic 4 is the one and only Sonic 4.

Yes, I understand that it's used as a figure of speech. It's a horrible practice in my opinion, because regardless of the non-literal nature of it, it gives off the literal impression nonetheless, which counts as misinformation. It's like when a joke meme starts getting taken too literally by people and turns into toxic bullying online, such as the "git gud" meme, which started out as jokingly saying "Have you tried getting good at the game?" when someone sucked, which was shortened to "git gud", and then started getting taken too literally by people and has since been used as a genuine insult when people suck at a game online.

In the same kind of way, calling games "The real Sonic 4" for example is a trend that has gotten out of hand to the point where people insist it in the literal sense because they've heard it from others and agree on it. It's become a popular opinion that is spread around as outright misinformation. Devil May Cry 2 sucked. It's still Devil May Cry 2. Nobody goes around saying stupid stuff like "DMC3 is the real DMC2", because outside of the Sonic community, most people realize that just because a game sucks doesn't mean another game takes it's place. They just acknowledge that specific numbered entry as being trash and move on. Is Mania the sequel S3K deserved? Yeah, sure. I can agree with that, as subjective as that still is. Is Mania the real Sonic 4? No. It's the real Sonic Mania. Is Sonic 4 the sequel S3K deserved? No, I don't feel like it is. It's still Sonic 4 though. The real one.

Anyway, in regards to the topic at hand, there could be things to do with Tails aside from giving him a super form if SRB2 doesn't want to be like Mania. For example, perhaps when Tails gets all the emeralds he can summon a flicky companion that acts similar to Cheese, spending rings to attack enemies and nearby power ups/lives/etc.

Why does it being a 32 bit game make it a Saturn game???

Anyway this is still a Sonic game, so I don't see why the developers wouldn't follow some of the gameplay quirks the classic Sonic games had. They can definitely have many different things, but I mean you can't make a Sonic game and base it not off of Sonic. Mystic I believe said that Tails could not go super with only 7 chaos emeralds because he is inexperienced and young and could not do it in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, which was at the time the only game where Tails could go super (and that was through the Super Emeralds). Though, there isn't an excuse for Knuckles, i don't know why Knuckles would be excluded but to be fair in all of the games after 3&K knuckles and tails never go super, in heroes they get yellow shields, but of course those are modern games which are completely different.

Before Sonic Generations, there was no concept for "Classic" and "Modern" being different things. Tails and Knuckles not going super in Heroes is still a mystery to this day. I say that despite not knowing if anything has been stated in an interview somewhere, because quite frankly the things I have heard stated from interviews don't make any sense and sound made up on the spot, and can hardly be taken as canon.

Jeez, I'll just stop commenting here if you're gonna continue like that... Sonic 4 doesn't deserve its title and if it wasn't canon it wouldn't have changed anything to the series.

PS: Adventure Sonic is still Modern Sonic

PPS: Just give every character an invincibility and speedup for their super form and call it a day.

Why does it being a 32 bit game make it a Saturn game???
Because the Saturn was 32 bits maybe?

In your own words, I don't get why you're getting mad at me for telling the truth. Regardless of whether Sonic 4 deserves it's title or not, it has it.

I've always wondered why Hyper Sonic is often associated with the color white, especially when not animated / is a drawing, though Hyper Sonic flashes the 7 colors of the chaos emeralds (presumably, it could have been less in Sonic 3 & Knuckles do to palette limitations, but i mean what i said WOULD make sense)
