The SA1 question

No, Crash Bandicoot 2, Metal Gear Solid and even Mario 64 had better cutscenes than Sonic Adventure.
I mean, on the Dreamcast and all of those games have worse cinematics, two of them don't even have facial expressions and only use textures.

"On the Dreamcast there were worse" doesn't mean that the ones in SA1 weren't janky.

Also sometimes having no facial movements is better looking than janky ones.

Just see Ocarina of Time and how iconic the opening cutscene is despite the fact that Link's face is a literal sprite on his model.

I never said they weren't, I just said that the cinematics of the sonic adventure are more advanced, you also forgot my point that it is not correct to complain about a 23-year-old game because it was the best there could be in its time.

I have to repeat the same thing, just look at all the Sega games before adventure, what I mean is that it was the best that could be achieved with the experience of the Sonic team and the technology of the Dreamcast at that time

I feel like Sega got too ambitious for their game and it lacked focus (and was more about style over substance).

Mario 64 at least only had one single hub area, one simple yet complex moveset and was pretty much considered to be the quintessential 3D platformer.

Maybe this is the reason why Sonic 2006 ended like we know.

Sometimes less is more and this is why games such as Colors are still being appreciated by many nowadays

yeah, that's sadly right. Sonic Team wanted to show how good the dreamcast was and SA1 suffered because of it.

About the cutscenes, I don't know you guys, but I like the jankiness. Sonic was never a serious franchise, so the story doesn't suffer because of the expressions. I may be just being nostalgic, but I like the cutscenes.

I don't understand what's wrong with being too ambitious, this is more of a personal opinion, but I prefer a ambitious bad game like 2006 to a unambitious good game like Sonic Generations

secondly I do not see the problem in terms of gameplay the game is the one with the best control of all the sonic in 3d also the one with the best level design

Sonic Generations was a bottle episode meant to celebrate the past of the franchise.

But the better example of an unambitious yet good game was Colors.

On the other hand Forces also tried too much with the more serious story and 3 gameplay setting.

Actually, sonic forces seem unambitious to me, it is just a bad attempt to copy sonic generations putting a lot of fanservice everywhere I will give it the merit of having at least unique levels not like generations

As for sonic generations, there is nothing that makes it unique, they are only the old levels with the Unleashed gameplay and even more fanservice than forces sonic mania. It seems to me a better anniversary game because at least it has some unique levels and mechanics.

hey Sparcknik, do you understand what's wrong with Sonic Adventure?
In fact, I have almost no complaints with the game, other than how short the stories of the other characters are, so I really don't understand the problem that many have with this game.

Of course the game has several problems but they were common at the time since all of the video game franchises were going through the jump to 3d

is that a no?

do you at least understand why some people don't like it?
well I understand something I know that the game has some problems such as cinematics, the Big story, some collision problems and that the The camera is not the best in the world but I repeat, they were very common problems in the era of the jump to 3d but I would understand that some would bother wit them

but this doesn't bother me at all I like this game
