How did you find srb2

It was almost 15 years ago , for whatever reason was comercialized on a magazine with childish things and a CD with demos in it , In that CD was srb2 1.09.4 final "demo" and I was 1st grade at school. Great times back then . For no reason nobody in my country give a damn on Pirated Content.
I'm gonna replay the entire versions in one day just nostalgic <3

That's amazing! I can't even imagine getting a fan game(especially one this good), on a demo disk in a magazine. I would have loved to have known about this game back then.

For me, there's two answers.

The first, with definitive proof: I was bored one day in June 2012 (being 8 at the time) downloading stuff from Softonic (?) when I stumbled across 2.0. I remember engaging in a netgame some time in 2013 or 2014 with the old launcher, it was the SA1 mod and I could never stay connected for more than 1-7 seconds, if memory serves me right. It wasn't until when 2.1.14 came out that I started properly playing SRB2 on a regular basis.

The second, under my belief: I recall playing Final Demo 1.09.4 at one point and even beating it. When I first played 2.0, I recall being quite annoyed with Deep Sea Zone, seeing as how I was adjusted to the Final Demo era campaign.

Back when I was really young (we're talking 8 or 10, I'm currently 18) I played a lot of flash games on my older bro's PC in the basement. There was this one website that showed up every time I searched "free sonic games" or "sonic games online" that had a huge list of download links for a lot of Sonic fangames. I think it was "oneonegames" or something like that — I know for sure its website logo was a 1 next to three spheres. SRB2 was one of the fangames in that list. I think it was version 2.0.4 or 2.0.6 that I played.

A long time ago, I was looking for information on this weird Sonic game I remembered playing even longer ago. I remembered it was a PC game that came on a CD-ROM, and the first level (which had the same music as Flying Battery) was called "Robotropolis Zone". It also didn't work very well, at least not on the computer I was running it on. I still haven't found it, but one of the first things I did back then was search for "Robotropolis Zone", as it was the most concrete thing I remembered. The first thing I found was SRB1, which has a level with the same name, albeit spelled incorrectly.

I figured out pretty quickly that it wasn't what I was looking for, but that was how I first learned about Sonic Robo Blast. I don't know for sure if that was when I first started playing (or even found) SRB2, but I do know I first played SRB2 in 2006 (no connection to my username) when "Final Demo" was the latest version.

When I was looking for information on that game, I figured it was a fangame, given the low quality, and the fact that I'd never heard of it anywhere since. But I think it's probably some kind of bootleg, now that I know what those are.

EDIT: Decided to ask about it on Sonic Retro, and someone found it. Turns out it was in fact a fangame, though I guess it might have been sold on a CD as a bootleg, if my memory of it being on a CD is in fact accurate. See this thread.

A weird question I decided to ask: How did you find srb2? And an optional one: How did you evolve?

My Answer: I first noticed srb2 in 2019, Garrulous64, Knuckles Channel 3 and Knuckles, and Dave Ace were playing it. (I might rewatch it this year it was funny.) Back to my topic In the end I didn't install the game because it looked "too hard" (they were having trouble on Eggrock 3.) Then I found Srb2 from a mod on YouTube: Almost Super Sonic! Thanks to that mod I am here having a good time today! I honestly evolved quickly! The best thing I learned was to add addons into my game without resetting everything Hurray!🎉 I also learned how to host (Thanks again Trystan) and more!

That was actually the same way I started to play SRB2

Well, only the Garrulous64 part

Well, unlike others who found it via Garroulous64, I found it on a SRB2 2.125 playthrough in 2016, but it looked too hard. It wasn't until 2020 where I remembered that video and decided to look up and download it. Sure enough, the version I found and got (2.2) looked nothing like the video, so I did some research and found out I had a newer version, so I played it and here I am.

Fun Fact: That same playthrough is what encouraged me to host 2.1

I can't remember how I found SRB2 back then but I stumbled upon the game's site around the Windows 7 days, probably looking for Sonic fangames to play. The earliest version I played was SRB2 2.0.5-2.0.6, I remember playing through it and like many players, eventually giving up at Deep Sea Zone because of it notorious difficulty back then, only to finally beat the game in 2.1. I also remember warping my way to the final level because I didn't want feel like going through the other levels as DSZ was already tough enough, only to end up getting stomped by 2.0 Brak and his very confusing attack pattern. I also downloaded add-ons from other places since I didn't go to the SRB2MB, despite it being on the same page as the downloads and the add-ons that I downloaded were really old add-ons that date back to final demo, hence when I tried them, I noticed that they were the wrong color and I was confused but played with them anyways because it was fun. The wads I remember playing with a lot were SADX Sonic, Advance Sonic and some others but it was a really fun time for me play the game back then.

I'll admit, I found it through the weird YouTube videos showing off old wads

I think it was around the 2.0 era when I was lurking around, but I finally decided to check it out during 2.1 since I finally got a Windows PC for myself, ended up going online and now I'm kinda just screwing around and sometimes checking in because I'm bored

At least I got my second username outta this

I think it was around the day after christmas afew years back, lil over the time 2.2 released. My friend told me about this fangame and convinced me to download it, so I did. Soon after that, I enjoyed it and loved it to heck like I still do and kept playing it. I soon evolved on my own and even got better at playing it. I really thank my friend for getting me down this Sonic Robo Blast Rabbit Hole and appreciate him convincing me to get it.

Back when I was maybe seven or eight years old, I did the ol' "free Sonic games" google search (definitely infected at least 2 PCs with viruses with that one) which brought me to Bluehog Gaming Studio, which rehosted and indeed still does rehost one of the final demo builds.

Side note: absolutely wacky that this guy keeps his site up in all its Y2K-aesthetic glory after a decade of not using it. Even his current site still looks like that.

I met Sonic Robo Blast 2 from Sergindsegasonic who is playing it and the name of the game sounded familiar to me due to hearing about a Sonic Robo Blast in the past from Sonic Retro and then i started to research some about the game so I came across the 2.2 version preview on Youtube and I was struck by how beautiful everything looks apart from reminding me to Sonic Adventure, my favorite Sonic game so i downloaded it in the latest version in this time 2.1.25 and played it with my brother but we couldn't get past Castle Eggman due to how difficult it was for us later, when version 2.2 came out, I was not only able to get past Castle Eggman, if not the entire game as well.

I found the game around 2009. I was a small boy who only had this for Sonic Content. I could barely play it and didn't know how it worked. Then I actually got Sonic Games and Comics like Sonic Unleashed (which I still think is a masterpiece) and dropped it. Then I was watching some SonicTubers like Knuckles Channel 3 & Knuckles and Garrulous64. Then I noticed a recent upload, which was them playing the game I forgot about since my childhood. Then I decided to go back to the game from all those years ago. And now here I am.

back in the 2.1 days iirc a friend suggested that i play the game, i remember playing a ton of netgames and getting random mods from them, i don't think i even knew about the mb when i played in 2.1
i joined the srb2 community i think some time after 2.2's launch, though only in the community server (which used to be the main server until the official server became a thing)
i don't think i've ever joined any srb2 server other than the cs though

Started in 2017 when i got a laptop, and remembered watching that Srb2 Schoolhouse map from 2.0, maybe 2.1 also. It all started with 2.1, and of course it lead me to SRB2 The Past in 2.1, showing me what it used to be. I'm now stuck in 2.2's gameplay hell, and it pretty much doesn't fill the heart of fun as it does trying out new character mods, or stage mods if I'm too bored for SRB2 Station, as i now use a desktop from one of my dad's friends due to it being somewhat old, but it's able to play SRB2 2.2 as long as it doesn't fill up with too many mods.
