Mario Level is in srb2 2.2 but not mario?

well, even then I do hear about mod characters for mario so you could totally get mario in srb2, just not vanilla

Considering how there's Mario enemies in the game, I wonder if it would be feasible to eventually have Mario as a secret boss fight?

None of it is ok, but Nintendo doesn't know because at core, its a sonic game. Plus all of the assets are original for my knowledge.

by that logic, srb2 in essence isn't okay, because it's an infringement of sega's copyright. anyway, it doesn't matter in the long run, because nintendo only takes down fangames that directly remake games, gain money or are coincidentally games they're already in the process of making. this "nintendo ninjas gon' take down your fangame!!!" joke is super inaccurate and personally not very funny.

in addition, none of the assets used in pipe towers zone are original. they're all ripped from super mario all stars.

the thing is, Sega actually supports fan games and the community and only takes down games that get sold, but I do admit I thought the textures were original.

sega actively supports fangames, nintendo just tolerates their existence.

well "tolerate" isn't the best word. Nintendo takes them down.

unlike every other game studio I know of.
no, i think tolerate is the perfect word. there have been extremely popular fangames and ones that have received a lot of attention and publicity, such as super mario flashback and the recently released SM64 PLUS, and they haven't been taken down. nintendo justifiably only takes down fangames if they're outright illegal or clash with an official game release. 99.9% of fangames are still on the internet and the vast majority of them are mario and nintendo.

Super Mario 63 is a major example. It’s arguably the most popular and longest living Mario fan game created and it hasn’t even been touched by Nintendo
