Super SRB2 Kart Z =NOT EXACTLY CANCELED=

I know the project is discontinued and very unlikely to continue, but I feel the need to talk about a few things. As a guy that considers MK64 the best game in the series, I'm happy this game is about as fast as it. Though I don't like how this game used MKWii's miniturbo gimmick, where the sparks build up more the longer you drift, and you not building them up manually (which is a much faster process, used in MK64, DD, and DS). Another thing about the control I want to ramble on is the inability to turn when jumping when your kart is still (like what could be done in 64, even in combination of turning while moving to make sharper turns), plus the controls for when your driver is reversing being inverted from what they should be.

About the characters, I'm surprised there's only one engine sound in the game (Bowser/DK Jr's from SMK) and none of the other engines from the first three games are present. I'm sure they could've been ripped easily, and would be awarded to each character based on what value their Speed stat is. It's also quite sad a playable Storm never made it into the game (but given how he's not available in SRB2 Riders, I do understand). And IMHO, I don't really like BITF Waluigi and Derpy being in here; I just find them really unnecessary.

I'd agree with you for Waluigi honestly =P , though for Derpy, that's stood fairly well as a hidden secret thing to find in levels.

I understand Derpy's intended to be an easter egg for players looking for something other than racing could have fun hunting her, just like the Yasachis from MM8BDM. However, Derpy's not too well-hidden in most tracks. The one on GBA Lakeside Park is easy to spot without abusing Mushrooms/Feathers.

I've recently been encountering a strange issue with my server; every time a new player attempts to join, they are instantly booted out (sometimes with lengthy lags). And in one case, they appeared as an immobile white graphic, and spent just about the entirety of the race as this graphic before leaving.

I will say that for when entering the final lap, I'd rather the tempo of the current song be accelerated by 20% instead of the speed accelerating (which makes some songs sound really weird, especially the Sonic Riders songs.

I will say this about the controls. In any Mario Kart game, if you rammed into a wall, you could get yourself free by simply holding a direction and accelerating; your kart would rotate to allow yourself to drive away. In SRB2 Kart, this is not present. I also want to add to one of my previous statements about hopping; you can still steer while hopping in all the other Mario Kart games, doing this in combination with turning (at least in SMK, 64, and SC) would make you do sharper turns. Also, recovery after a fatal fall is automatic and instant in Mario Kart, but here you have to press the Drift key to revive yourself, and the checkpoints are very scarce and far-between. At least they could be configured to be invisible and not play the "checkpoint activated" sound when passed but still make them fully functional. This way they won't be as much of a nuisance (their sound gets repetitive) and can exist in higher numbers on each track, to prevent players from taking illegitimate unintentional routes (Blue Mountain has an example of this) and wlll also increase the number of respawn points Laiktu can drop you off after a fall. Oh, and a button to instantly drop you off at the previous checkpoint you passed incase you get into a situation you can't get out of.

I think BITF Waluigi should be replaced by canon and decently-drawn Mario (balanced stats) and canon and decently-drawn Wario. Soon I'll release a PDF documenting other requests regarding each individual track (some I get really down and detailed), and my recomendations on each GP's titles and what tracks to feature in the Retro cups.

P.S. I think core SRB2 should have the extra ten player color palettes (plus enabling yellow in Match, since a player going Super would be flashing through Yellow, Gold, and White instead of just yellow).

It's easy to want things, finding people to be able to do them is the challenge. That being said, I think the jumping and turning should be looked into.

That moment where people can't accept BITF Waluigi being a blatant joke.
We may as well replace robohood with egg-robo while we're at it. :V

As promised, here's my suggestions for every track in the game. Please proceed with caution.

EDIT: I think I should make it clear; these are only my opinions, and they will vary between everyone, especially BITF Waluigi. I may hate him, but that's not saying no one else has to agree with me, or my idea of changing him into canon Waluigi or replacing him with Mario and/or Wario.

In response to AozoraJustin's comments about the characters:

I don't see why it's not possible to change the color of Amy's hair
That's because the hair is using colors from two different palettes, IIRC. Blame Dr. Pepper, he's the one who sprited Amy there that way originally. =P
Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles look like their SRB2 coutnerparts, so why not Eggman?
Eggman hasn't been touched since SRB2 Riders 1.09.4. That is the 1.09.4 Eggman you see there. Nobody's as of yet bothered to update him to the 2.0 Eggman, yeah.
Robo-Hood needs to have a small bobbing effect in his kart like all the other drivers.
Oh lol, that was my fault actually, since I'm the one who made him. Half-goofup and half-laziness I think.

A bit of a correction; That is Riverside park in the mod, not Lakeside. Only the music is incorrect.

All criticism aside, would anyone be able to help me with getting SRB2Kart online onto the Master server? I keep getting the same "not online or not forwarded ports" nonsense I've been getting for vanilla SRB2 until about a week or so ago.

UPDATE: I was able to pass by one of the checkpoints in Casino Resort just now. Don't remember which one(s), but you may want to have a look.

I suppose it's time to finally break the silence.

No, SRB2Kart is not dead. We've gotten a new coder, Sryder13, and have been polishing many of the complained aspects of the game, rather than adding new unnecessary features. We've been tweaking and fixing everything to work as they should have from the start to make races more enjoyable and less cheap. Core mechanics.

What we're actually waiting on right now before we release it, sadly, are the new graphics I've been making for everything (as shown earlier in this thread). Unfortunately, I'm a very slow and procrastinatious (is that even a word) spriter, so everything is taking much longer than it actually should.

I really just said this to let you know that your criticism isn't falling on deaf ears at all, and most of what you've stated has been addressed in our test builds.

Well, whatever happens, I'll make sure to keep myself up to date on the progress of this mod. I'm thrilled to see some of my ideas getting fulfilled, and I'd love to volunteer as a playtester.

We're not obligated to inform you of anything. When something of notable progress appears we can tell you, if we choose. It's not like our chatroom is exclusive, so anyone can go in and ask what's up. This doesn't mean anyone can waltz in and get unreleased builds, That decision comes after you earn it/prove competence, plus, those with the current WIP builds are contributors for the most part.

For the record:
IRC = Internet Relay Chat.
IIRC = If I Remember Correctly.
That is all.
Thank you.

And battle mode in SRB2 Kart looks like something that will happen quite soon if they choose to make this, because all they might have to do is add: battle maps, create a new mode for it and make it be on the menu screen (or sub-menu sceen).
