Gallery of useless structures found in the official maps

I've been poking around the official maps, and I've found a handful of structures that don't seem to serve any purpose at all. Here are the ones I've found:

Deep Sea Zone Act 1:
Come see the lonely control sector that doesn't have any linedef specials!

Arid Canyon Zone Act 1:

What the heck? A road in the desert? That is completely split off from the rest of the level, and can only be reached through DEVMODE?

I know this is old news...but I thought it belonged in this group of observations, so that's why I'm bringing it up again.

Red Volcano Zone Act 1:
Judging from its tagging, this isolated segment would have the lava wave in it. Is this just a holdover from when RVZ1 was constructed and a copy of the lava wave would have needed to be handy at all times?

Egg Rock Zone Act 2:
Like DSZ1, ERZ2 has got some unused control sectors. There's actually more than just this one; it's only a single example.

I knew I couldn't possibly have been the first one to spot that. I just lumped it in with all the others because I thought it belonged.
 
I'm surprised you didn't find more in ERZ2... a lot was cut before release.

That long single control sector in RVZ1 with a bunch of linedefs sets colormap info, does it not?
 
ERZ2 has all kinds of stuff accessible by noclip. For instance, the old shrink machine.

As of now, I've only located the most blatant of these useless structures (blank control sectors, segments that lack any tags or effects, etc.). I have been absorbed in other projects and thus have not heavily invested my time in this comparatively pointless endeavor (though I have invested enough to post this stuff).

Well, seeing as it contains no instances of Linedef Type 606, or any other linedef special at all for that matter, I'd have to contradict your normally infallible wisdom, SSN.
 
Well, it probably used to before Nev3r got his mitts on it.
 
Then it's probably a good thing that I didn't just repeat all that and embarrass myself by spouting yet more old news, innit?

I found all this stuff by just looking at it in SRB2DB. Lots of the stuff in ERZ2 isn't immediately apparent as an inaccessible area just by viewing it in this way.
 
But picking out lone control sectors which just happen to have no linedef specials associated is? >_>
 
Well, in those cases, I had known about them for a while.
