v4
It took me so long to update this horn pack because I was waiting to get at least one specific horn in but it was never found
The Dumpster has, yet again, even more garbage to seep through mindlessly in Stereo Mode
Jumping here.
Finally, a new major version! In this update, I've added 46 horns and 131 hellhorns. All of them are captioned and ready for use. This update took an extra long time as it had me searching for sounds from across the ages— sounds from videos I used to watch as a kid, and memes I thought I've long forgotten.
I was going to upload this a looong while back, but there were some missed opportunities that I wanted to fulfill for this, at the last second. I took extra care to make sure each horn wasn't bugged and every hellhorn worked.
I sure hope I don't have to publish any hotfixes.
Also, wow! 1,000 DOWNLOADS?! Does word about this mod spread behind my back or something!? My sincerest thanks, everyone! I didn't think this crazy conglomerate of horns that me and my friends came up with would be this popular, even if it is only a thousand!
Now, the additions:
And here's the fix:
- 46 horns, captioned and ready for use.
These captions are quite fun to work with. I wonder why nobody else uses them? (typeclosedcaptioning true
in console!)
- 131 hellhorns, captioned and ready for use.
Brace your ears for these ones.
- Replacement to an existing base horn that corrects its purpose, specifically the horn
DSHBDDCS
. It's a SEGA Dreamcast BIOS one if I recall correctly, and it was mislabeled in base HORNMOD. I've since fixed it and added a horn identical to it.
The future:
As for the future of this mod, I think I'll probably try to go for a grand total of 777 horns— gotta hit the jackpot somehow. As we approach the freeslot sound limit for this game (as I'm writing for this, we're on DRRR version 2.3), I have to be a little cautious on what sounds I wanna add, since there's a hard cap as to how many the game can allow at once. Not to mention the existence of other hornpacks out there.
So who knows? I might go for v5, I may go for a v6, I don't know when that 777 horn goal will be reached. But if I ever do get the chance, that ought to be something remarkable! For me, at least. Of course, if the hard cap is extended or outright removed, then this mod will probably persist for longer.
To sum it up, I will (hopefully) try to make v5 the final version of this mod, and if the bounds are removed, then there will be more to come.
I will update the front page of this mod later on, as I do want to give it a look that realizes more of what it is today than it was before.
Credit where it's due, I'd like to thank these fellows for helping out with one or two sounds.

Anyways, let me know if anything goes wrong with this mod! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy this new version of Dumpster!

There was a strange bug where horns added by Dumpster were cloned / listed twice. So I learned how aninit.lua
works, and this is a hotfix that patches that issue.
As a result, however, this mod will no longer work on SRB2Kart (i think) since that doesn't support init files.
That's all.
v3.1
A few small changes
Jumping here.
No new horns this update, but I did bring along some small fixes and alterations.
First, the minor fixes.
Now onto some important stuff.
- Some duplicate horns (such as
drmaus
andmvmenu
) were patched out.- Certain horns have slightly altered descriptions (namely the Devils Never Cry one)
- The mod will no longer be split between two versions— Dumpster Fire is now one with Dumpster.
I figure that most people probably end up using the Dumpster Fire version anyway, so it'll remain at that for now. I'm unsure if I'll keep it this way for when v4 comes around, as it is kinda tough to maintain both versions.
Remember, you're always free to alter Dumpster if you want to remove those horns outright— it is Open Assets, after all.
- There are now closed captions for all horns added in Dumpster.
Yeah, Ring Racers doesn't actually have an option for caption display. However, it still exists as a variable internally that some people do set, so now there are captions, some with fancy coloring too.
If you're curious, try typing "closedcaptioning true
" in console.
If you're curious as to when v4 will come out, I've not finished the total roster of horns for that just yet. It may take a while, especially knowing that other hornpacks have released onto the MB, such as the AquaticNeptune one, NoahInfinity's, and the Astro hornpack.
Perhaps, did I inspire some people to make hornpacks, or was it the presence of HORNMOD as a port that caused this?
Anyway, that's all for now. Until next time!

Had another hotfix to make after somebody told me that there was an error with two of the horns that I tried to patch out yesterday.
is this what having hundreds of horns comes with
Jumping here.
DSGMZIN1, DSGMZIN2, and DSGMZIN7 had errors, so I fixed those up. This applies only to those who use the Dumpster Fire version of the mod. Guess that's what I get for working on this mod late at night.
v3
Also known as the "Please stop dumping more dumpsters over here they're all catching fire oh god can you please put it out" update
The Dumpster has even more trash to delve into now
Jumping here.
My friends decided once again to contribute several dozens of horns. This update, you can expect 40+ new regular horns, 80+ hellhorns, and 16 slurhorns exclusive to the Dumpster Fire version of this mod.
I'd like to thank my friends dat, adi, @kirbyzaz, Chanterelle, and CELHI for some of the horns featured in this update.
Let me know if anything goes wrong with this update. At this point I think I've lost count of how many horns total are in this mod.
Also, thanks for the 200-ish downloads!
v2
The Dumpster has more trash to play with now
Jumping here.
Fixed a few horns from the previous version and added some more horns and hellhorns alike, something felt off when I noticed that the first version had no Big Bird screams of terror.
The last I counted, there is roughly 300 horns and hellhorns total as of this update.
Another thanks to my friends kirbyzaz and kubatczew for helping me gather a few sounds.
P.S., if you want a proper Dumpster hellhole experience, you should try the HORN_PREFEREXPANSIONS (i think that's what it was called?) setting in the base HORNMOD. That's gonna sting.
