I get this error consistently, even after going through the recommended steps on how to fix this. I am at a loss.
All I can think of is that, for some reason, SRB2-22.cfg shows up on the computer as C code and the three problem files show up as plain text.
EDIT: Adding a double-lined comment at the start of the file makes the computer read it as C, but that doesn't fix my issue.

EDIT: Also, if this impacts anything, when put through the file command, the working SRB2-22.cfg file shows up as "ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators", while the three problem files show up as "Unicode text, UTF-8 (with BOM) text, with CRLF line terminators"

I have no idea how to fix this. I have removed spaces from the specific line it hates, I've made new files and put the same code in it, nothing.
Running through lutris-GE-Proton8-8-x86-64 on Pop!_OS 22.04

the only thing i found that fixes it not being able to read these cfg files is running them through abiword and saving as txt. then rename the saved file to .cfg, it will load in. not sure if this makes it work properly yet, but it lowers the filesize by nearly 4 kb???
