Earlier this month, the kind chap that develops XWE decided to release the source code, it's written in Delphi 5 so it's pretty ancient stuff, but still editable.

I recall asking him about getting my hands on the source some time ago, to which I got the response that he wasn't releasing it till he didn't maintain it any more, so it's nice to see he's finally done so.

So, yes, discuss and such.

I would much rather see SLumpED code to be edited so it can support more SRB2 stuff. Though XWE has the advantage of converting sound effects to something SRB2 can read. If the license is compatible, then maybe port that to SLumpED, or just wait until SLumpED 0.8 comes out. That is a bit unlikely though :/.

Off-topic but when is that coming out
On-topic: This source code might be useful for a good bit of stuff but for what

I'd greatly prefer seeing SLumpEd's exclusive abilities ported to XWE than XWE's exclusive abilities ported to SLumpEd. Both programs are useful, but I only use SLumpEd when XWE's really acting up.

Calls for a port to C++ or Java to be honest. Delphi 5 is horrifyingly old.

I believe the best course of action would be to port it into C++ or integrating it into Workbench, of course ironing bugs and making it better along the way.

Yeah, but I believe SlumpED is already in C or C++, so I would think putting a little bit a code from XWE to SLumpED would be easier then converting XWE to C++ or something else, and THEN put SLumpED stuff in it. Programming isn't my specialty, so I wouldn't really know.
