Right, so WinRar is being stupid and asking me to buy it. And yet, I don't feel like it.

Is there anyway to avoid this? What file would I kill? Would I just unzip it?

And on a side note, mIRC, which is expired on my account, has 30 days 'till expiration on my brother's account.

Well, If I recall. Both mIRC and Winrar can be used after the 30 days are up. It just gives you a message saying so, but there should be a continue box somewhere on there.

The only other way to fix it is to do a thing that is not allowed on these forums.

Yeah, Just click "Close" on the expiration popup, or the red X on the same, and Winrar continues to run.

On my laptop, the last time I looked, Winzip says it's been in use for over 1200 days, and I should register it after 21 days.

Don't worry about it.

Eugh... WinZip is terrible. The trial expiration notice creates a long delay that increases for every day that you've had the software installed (though there is a ceiling for this delay). It doesn't even have RAR support. I just simply switched to WinRar, set the default unarchive folder to the same as WinZip's default, and I found WinRar to be much faster in the end.

Bonus for you. WinRAR is the best. 7-zip is ok, but WinRAR is far more easier.

I have tried 7-zip before, but its interface really sucks. Since winrar can now open 7-zip files, it keeps me happy because if I encounter any more 7-zip files, I don't need to use another program just to extract them.

Mac?

Acually, 90% of the time I don't need to use a ZIP thingy...

I download it to the mac version of my computer, automatcly unzips

I drag the file into the window that has the windows on it and then I use it :D

No, ALzip works for PC too. I just tired it out, its a nice program. 7-zip can compress regular zips farther than this, plus you can not create 7z or rar files. It did seem to have a better sfx(exe) compression then 7-zip and it supports more archives.
