Why does ERZ2 & CEZ2 cause so much lag?

So, I was playing through the levels from v2.0 using a total conversion mod I got from a server. The first thing I notice when I enter Egg Rock Zone 2 is a disturbing lack of lag.

Ever since I first picked up 2.2, that level and Castle Eggman 2 have been some of the laggiest levels I've played through. They're annoying in Vanilla and they become borderline unplayable if I load any mod.

Why does the 2.0 version of ERZ2 run better than the 2.2 version? It literally has more sections than it's future counterpart. It makes no sense!

Well I don't have issues with those stages lagging anymore like I used to because I found a way to reduce lag without addons but I still have intense lag in 2.0 cez2 but 2.0 erz2 is fine, also 2.2 erz2 has more detail from my understanding, I could be wrong though. As for Castle Eggman act 2 2.2 there's a lot of polyobjects that don't despawn when you go a distance away from it so that might be the lag for 2.2 cez2 just the polyobjects

I don't know. I mean, come to think of it. 2.2 was technically rushed, so the engine wasn't polished around 2.2.0's release (Although, it was revamped, considering they use Doom Legacy 1.28 as their engine). So these problems must've started to be fixed in later versions of 2.2. Including net game.

There is LagKiller in Lua category, made to remove laggy vanilla and custom stages. To reduce lag without lagkiller, set draw distance low and weather None.

CEZ2 is abundant on polyobjects and ERZ2 2.2 is incredibly large, although it's kind of weird i havent got such lag on my old ahh pc

Some people play the Android mobile version of SRB2 which may be where most of the comments about lag stem from. Some of the lower-end phones and tablets can barely run Android itself nonetheless anything resembling a game. I do not recommend mobile for platformers, I have purchased platformers for my tablet, and it is significantly more difficult than it can be when the UI is touch-only and you have to be concerned about your fingers getting in the way.

i can understand such, i have an android phone that runs on merely 2 gb ram. but seriously, srb2 just takes 512mb of your ram max
