What's the deal with the MasterServer?

I finally was able to download SRB2, so I started it up right away, entered 'listserv' in the console, and it didn't do anything at first, just kinda froze there, so i waited patiently, and finally it said something like 'Cannot connect to MasterServer'. It also froze for a bit when I went to 'Join Game (Internet)'. So my question is...why can't I join netgames?

Well, you can 1. Try it again. or 2. Go to multiplayer and look at the servers.
Plus, this should be in the HELP thread/sub-board, Not the Discussion.
Someone please move this.
