What will happen to the Modern Sonic mod?

Earlier today I was talking with some people about the Modern Sonic mod made by MotdSpork and an interesting question came up

What will happen to the Modern Sonic v6 mod? Cuz apparently MotdSpork is gone from the community for some reason which means he can't maintain or update the mod anymore, alongside other things that happened with the people who worked on it.

Does this mean the mod is just dead in the water? Or will someone else maintain it?

Chances are Spork is gonna give ownership of Modern Sonic to me. I'm still not 100% sure, though it's something we talked about a while back.
