What is "Speed Thok"?

I saw an Action replay code for Sonic DX for a speed thok. So far I could not tell if the code did anything. The only reference to it was from an early screen of SRB2. There is nothing about it in the manual. Anyone know what it is?

On SA, a sped thok is when you jump, then do a homing attack. We call it a speed thok because when Sonic homing attacks, the attack makes a sound that sounds like the word thok.

On SRB2, you do the same thing. The only difference is that it doesn't home in, which can be a good thing at times.
