What Happened to SRB2Update?

So I Downloaded 2.0.1 From The Archived Releases on Srb2.org and when I opened the folder and there was this srb2update.exe in there and of course it doesnt work. But I am Curious about why they removed srb2update, because it seems useful.

Because keeping an update system with a server that can handle hundreds of gigabytes of data at once is thousands of unfunded dollars in the long run. You're asking developers to shelve out parts of their paychecks to fund a service for lazy idiots who can't go check for themselves, all the while you can simply just go to the SRB2 website and download the update yourself.
