Wad/Linedef/Sector help

Ok. Check the following...

1: Make sure you're setting the right sidedef texture. If you're supposed to be viewing it from the back linedef, set the back sidedef texture. Same for the front. (The front side of a linedef is distinguishable by the little line poking out of the middle.)

2: Make sure you didn't create the sector outside the thok barrier, and moved it in. That is a common mistake.

If everything above is fine, I dunno what else to tell ya. :|

Yep, Everything above is fine. I made it inside the barrier and there's a below texture on both sides of the sidedefs (so if I end up putting something there, it won't screw up). Maybe it's a bug.

Make sure that the texture you set it to really is a texture.
Oh, wait... If it isn't, then it'll be a red wall, nevermind.

Yeah. It appears to not have a texture when it does.
Also, how do I exit 3D mode? Actually, I'd like to know how to use 3D completely.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Robo, I checked out the wad yesterday, and I really can't figure out what the problem is. Although, I'm 80% sure it has something to do with that weird thok barrier, it just isn't supposed to be like that.

And, if all else fails... Just restart. Really, you haven't done much, what's the harm? =/

I started over, but I have another problem. I can't pass the stair linedef...or, at least, what it used to be.

I'm pretty sure the problem you're experiencing is not a bug, but a mistake you or the editor made yourself; mismatching sidedefs to sector references. That screenshot is most certainly not displaying a standard case of a HOM, because if it was just a missing texture the floor texture would cut off at the bottom of the linedef being viewed. To fix this, go to the Edit Linedef dialogue or whatever for your editor, and check the following things:

1. If your line's front side is facing AND IS CONNECTED to sector X, make sure the front sidedef is referencing sector X by typing whatever X is into the box marked "sector".

2. Same thing for the back side.

Trust me. This IS the problem.

Yeah, what he said. Whether you're using WadAuthor or DoomBuilder, that problem crops up now and then if you're not careful (ie. making sure sectors are actually closed). The only thing you can do to prevent it is mouse over all your sectors now and then to make sure the sidedefs are set to the right sector. Once you get used to it, it's a minor hassle, for the most part.
