Heyo!
I know that these types of threads have been done to death but now that we've all been introduced to srb2's current playstyle changes and taken the time to adapt to them, I wanted to find out what are people's preferred keyboard setup and playstyle options in vanilla srb2 or in mods/character wads added to vanilla srb2.
My reason for seeking information on this was in the hopes that I could learn what keyboard/gamepad setups may work well with future projects that I'll be working on.
I'll start with describing my setup, as I normally play offline in vanilla srb2, my setup is really simple:
I use the "Standard" playstyle as I love seeing being able to see the other angles of sprites, plus I'm used to abilities pushing me in the direction that the camera is facing.
Z - Jump Key
X - Spin Key
C - Custom 1 Key
Arrow Keys - For turning and forward/backwards movement
WASD Keys - For strafing and forwards/backwards movement
Other custom buttons (such as custom 2 & 3) as well as shooting buttons and stuff, are rarely used so they're usually mapped to their default keys or nothing.
I'm not too big a fan of having to use more than three action keys (jumping, spinning and custom 1) on a keyboard, if I load an addon that requires me to use more than those three, then I'm more likely to switch to using a gamepad and use the "Simple" playstyle.
I also like to make small mods that mainly use those three action buttons that I described before as I find the setup simple and diverse enough if you put the player in different situations in-game.
