Mine Maze and Rocky Mountain were canned because of originality issues. They were just a dull concept, really. Now I personally think a carnival zone would be really awesome and we've already thought of the idea many times, but there is a serious issue that prevents that: SRB2 cannot do sloped walls at all. It's very hard to do a pinball-style insanity level with completely flat walls and floors. I guess you COULD do it, but it's not something we're going to attempt, although we did add a few features for if someone wants to try, like the bouncy floors and walls.Sciky said:I've always thought that there could've been more variation in the zones, the zone names have been changed quite a bit now, and at one point recently I think they added or took out a zone or something. I've noticed that there's no casino or Circus zone and basically every sonic game has one and most of the time they always end up being the best, for example: Casino Night Zone on Sonic 2.
In the zones section it shows two zones, one is arid canyon and then red volcano zone, and before the names were changed it was a mine maze, rocky mountain and then red volcano. I think these zones are and always have been a bit too familiar for some reason, also I noticed that the music for Rocky Mountain on the soundtrack in the history section perfectly suits a casino zone.
