Try This:

In OpenGL mode, reverse all buttons that have to do with left and right, then type "gr_fov 1000" into the console. You'll get this:

You aren't meant to use 1000. FOV only goes up to 360, because it's a measure in degrees. Any higher is unnecessary, as it will just wrap the value. You should have used a number like 270.

That's for going backwards. He's talking about playing the game with the camera upside-down.
