Time For War: Ryan, Jason, or Roger (And for those in the know, Penny)

Ryan and Jason are tied for me, but I have a definitive preference depending on the day. Roger is a great voice actor, but he just never clicked with me no matter how much I tried. in regards to Penny, I think she has a pretty neat take.
 
I, personally, have never been a fan of the over-the-top voices that Ryan and early Jason use. I can tolerate Penny's, since the over-the-top-ness is for comedic affect. Roger has always clicked with me, what with growing up with him, in my mind, he is Sonic. Say what you will about him being a surfer dude, but he just exudes cool and blue. And you can't deny that his game really stepped up in Frontiers.
 
his performance in Frontiers is the worst in his run, IMO. he sounds way too old and there's a lack of energy in his voice. Sonic is a character that warrants a voice like the other two. they're just naturally "cool" sounding. the former being the closest they've gotten to channeling Junichi in English. preferences are preferences, I just don't see it personally lol
 
Each to their own, ig. But his tone really fit the tone of that game, being more serious than the rest of the games we see him in, even Forces. (I hate to mention that game, but the tone could have been even more serious than Frontiers.) It sounds like Sonic finally went through puberty, you know he's a teen, right? Plus, adding to that point, we don't actually know how long it's been since Forces in Frontiers, so it could make sense

he is a teen, but he's ageless, he won't ever mature physically, so he doesn't really need to sound like he's going through puberty. Ryan or Jason have a voice that just feels solely unique to Sonic, as well, one you won't find anywhere else, not being the case for Roger where he's used that Frontiers voice for quite a few roles lol. they don't need to make changes like that either to fit a tone, Sonic characters are so versatile that they can they can be in any story without any tweaking. Roger is a fantastic voice actor no doubt, it's just with Sonic I can't vibe with it. he's a great Batman for example
 
Yeah, I guess. But it does make it easier for me to hear him in a show and nudge the person next to me, (probably my sister) and say "Hey! That's Sonic!"
 
its definitely a funny instance lol, Regular Show is the perfect example of it. in that episode with the doppleganger Mordecai and Rigby, Roger does both his Generations Sonic voice and the Frontiers one (well, the voice he'd use later on), and it's amusing hearing it all at once
 
The voice I was introduced to first was Roger, but I've grown an incredible fondness for Ryan. Wish he never left.

Sonic X single-handedly screwed up the voice cast for years to come, lol.

As for my stance of Jason, he's... fine. It always felt like an awkward middle step. He's my least favorite out of all of 'em, besides...

Lol Penny is great, but she should def stay in Snap Cube.

In case it wasn't clear, the spoiler was a bait-and-switch. I still like Jason the least.

Also, anybody notice that Roger does a lotta voices for random shows? I looked at some of his castings, and he is omnipresent in shows like the Regular Show.

Sometimes it makes it so I can't enjoy it because Sonic is just lurking in the back of my minds whenever he talks.

...stay away chill working-class Sonic.

Roger is fine, behind Ryan but in front of Jason for me.

Also, anybody else NOT like Jaleel in the DiC cartoons? Didn't feel Sonic-y. Idk, I watched The Adventure of Sonic the Hedgehog and... *gulp* Sonic Underground, and not SatAM, so maybe I'm just unknowledgeable.

And the main place I remember Roger being in is actually The Owl House. I just like Disney channel. (And I haven't watched Regular Show since, like, 2018, or sumthin.)

Not even lying tried to search up the pictures and once I got to Luz I had a cringe attack. I freaking hyperventilated. What instilled this into me?
 
They both have that gremlin energy about them that's so endearing. (And there is another similarity, but we'll have to wait and see if Whispangle is actually a thing.)
 
Cannon? No way they're letting that happen. They don't like relationships in-between their characters.

I do think Ian Flynn absolutely wants it to be cannon.

I'm really not a shipping person at all, so I have no clue what to say other than that.
