FUN FACT: In Sonic's final part of Speed Highway in Sonic Adventure and it's remake, there are canisters atop of numerous buildings with a lite-blue rabbit upon them. I've heard tell that this is actually a reproduction of Sonic's original rabbit design. Though it could be any old generic rabbit. In defense of the second argument, the rabbit appears nothing like the old design.
