EDIT: The only one I can get to work is Metal Sonic. Kirby appears in the player select screen but when I choose him it turns into Sonic. Any help, and thanks for Metal.

Well I haven't updated Kirby, and the others who run in the 1p screen. If you want to play as them, use them in multiplayer mode.
