Take the SRB2 demo off the server.

Hello,

This is to let you know that I've had to apply a throttle to your
ssntails.sepwich.com web site. It is receiving a lot of connections
(downloads for the FinalDemo1094.exe) and causing the web server to
become unresponsive. This throttle will still allow your site to receive
many connections, just not as many as before.

Do you expect this traffic to subside or is this typical for your site?

Thanks!

Steven

Yea it's only affecting ssntails.sepwich.com and it's obvious so for you guys sake I would remove it that way I can have the throttle lifted.

A lot of people are downloading SRB2 1094 and it's using up a huge amount of bandwidth. Sepwich hosting had to apply a limiter because the huge amount of downloads was causing problems for their server.

No that file always gets a lot of attention for some reason. Mystic used to always tell me about how much bandwidth it eats.. We have enough bandwidth, but apparently it hurts the shared server resources.

I find it funny how it only effects the servers on that one single day though, we never had any problems before.

Still though, taking it down would likely be a good idea.

Ah, now this explains the slow load times. I mean, I'm using a free forum and it loads better than a forum that people are actually paying for. >_>

Uhh, Sepwich is listed as MIRROR 2, if I can recall. The "Main Server" is clipper. Why the hell is everyone not downloading it off of there?

My thoughts exactly, Penopat. There were three other places to download the file from (and much faster than sepwich, even). Oh well, I pulled the link.

Here is our TOS on our web site:

http://www.dreamhost.com/tos.html

It does not literally say "throttle" in the test of it, but this falls
into the category of protecting shared servers for all customers.
Anything that negatively impacts performance of the web server to the
detriment of other sites we reserve the right to handle as necessary.

If you are planning on have a lot of downloads we would suggest using FTP
instead of HTTP as it will not put load on the web server. Feel free to
reply back with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thanks!

Dan
