Switching renderers on the tally screen causes the background to turn black

Edit: It appears gif recording broke from the moment I switched renderers on the tally screen, and filled the screen with white instead. Just imagine a black background with the text "Sonic has passed act 1" on it and then me beginnning GFZ2 in OpenGL.
