Summarized Upcoming Frontiers Sonic and Doom Shadow Thoughts

"I am the real Sonic!- not."
Would have included more Modern Sonic V6 discussion if you had anything to say if it wasn't specifically prohibited, which I understand but it does make it a whole lot harder to discuss the mod any further.

So, recently, the following was posted:

For some of you, Doom Shadow may have come out of nowhere - as it's being developed on... the flipside.
As for me, I made an account there to see some of the development being made in real time, so it wasn't anything new.

Personally, I am surprised the Shadow mod was based off of Frontiers Sonic rather than the upcoming MSV6, which did disappoint t me a little big ngl.

Don't get me wrong, Frontiers Sonic is really cool, but he's incredibly faithful. Why is that a bad thing? Because I dislike certain aspects about Frontiers Sonic. Wanna guess? I'll leave a spoiler below so you can guess. I am really predictable, after all.

SPINDASH!!! I am really glad they are considering adding the Spindash back into Sonic games, but it was handled in a way I dislike in Frontiers - a buffed Boost. It just bursted you forward. Not to mention - it well, consumed Boost, limiting its usage. Not only that, but it is heavily suggested that MSV6 will also use the Frontiers Spindash, which imma straight-up mod out. I'm gonna do it - well, if it is like that, which I hope it isn't.

Since Frontiers Sonic and Doom Shadow are being developed by separate teams with completely separate code, the movesets will probably not resemble each other very much, which also tickles me in the wrong way. I expect them to feel very different with completely different fundamentals.

Both mods are promising, and I am excited for them, but I'm really looking forwards to MSV6. I wish Shadow was delayed and based off of his code base instead.

What are your opinions?

If there are any questions, I can always elaborate further.

Well, Shadow Generations is practically modded Frontiers, so Doom Shadow being built from, or at least slightly based off, Frontiers Sonic does make a lot of sense. But Modern Sonic plays amazing, so I wouldn't blame ya for wanting Shadow built from him.

As a spriter for the 2 characters, i can tell that doom shadow wont be built from frontiers, he'll have his own codes

Oh hey it's the guy

Yeah, I knew they had separate scripts, it's just they're based on each other. It would be efficient and consistent to share code, but oh well.

The truth is that you are asking for a lot, we can't use any Lua script or code already done that would lose the originality of the mod, plus if we used v6 as a base I doubt that even the mod devs know me,we have to ask them first as we can't say we'll be using V6 as the base for Doom Shadow plus it would delay the progress of the mod just to wait for v6 that's why we want to do our own things

Even if we shared the same code, the mods could have difficult bugs or bugs that would affect the gameplay.

After all if you don't like the mod or didn't like the collaboration it's your opinion and it's respectable.

Oh crap, I came off as a jerk.

No, I don't hate the mods at all - they're very impressive. And I didn't realize that what I was suggesting was unrealistic - I assumed sharing code would streamline development and bug fixing, and make the mods feel extremely consistent with each other.

I mean now to share code between Frontiers Sonic and Doom Shadow, and no longer MSV6 between Doom Shadow, as of the direction of the project.

GL Man!
