Hey everyone, today I'm announcing my departure from both the SRB2 staff team and the development team.
Truth be told, the journey this game has taken me through has been absolutely bonkers. I started playing SRB2 when I was only 7 years old, and I've been involved with this community for nearly 20 years. I honestly never saw myself joining the dev team, managing the Discord, or navigating through the most tumultuous leadership change in the game's history. But that's the thing about life, right? You never know where you'll end up, or how things will play out. This community has provided me with life lessons, many good friends, and plenty of memories both good and bad. The path to get there was rocky, but the community now is in a much better state than it was when I originally joined. I feel content knowing that we were able to accomplish all of the things we originally set out to do.
As for why I'm leaving, it's fair to say that over the years, my interest in the project has waned substantially. Everything I did for SRB2 and its community came from pure passion, out of a genuine desire to leave this game in a better place than it was when I found it. I've accomplished everything I wanted to, and I don't really see much of a reason to stick around anymore. I joined this community as a child, joined the dev team as a teenager, and now I'm a grown man working a 9-to-5 job. I think my position should be left to someone with more time, energy, and interest in the project. The community deserves to have staff with an active interest in the it, and I no longer satisfy that quality.
Thank you all for the support and appreciation over the years! SRB2 is carried by your love for it, and it has stood the test of time largely for that reason. The community is what keeps the game alive, and it makes me incredibly happy to see that it is more free and welcoming than it has ever been. I hope the community remains the amazing place it is for many years to come. I hope that future staff and devs can enjoy what we've left for them, and keep making this game and community the best it can be.
Take it easy,
