SRB2 Riders- no board

I've been having trouble playing the mod because I cannot get a board on 1-player mode. I think it's because the mode is co-op and not race but I can't change mode. Can someone help me please? I've been at this for 40 minutes.

SRB2 Riders uses the Race mode, not coop/singleplayer.

The lap system doesn't work in SP, so The Riders Mod is a multiplayer only mod.
