SRB2 is being crappy at searching files. PLZ NEED HELP

Urk, it's been getting on my nerves quiet a lot lately.

I would attempt to join a server, and it'd have wads added. I'll be sitting at this frozen screen for 2 minutes waiting for it to connect, just to see I am still missing a wad. Even when I have all the wads, it still takes a rather large chunk of time.

When I do addfile, if I put the name in wrong, it's frozen for, like, 30 seconds. It's getting really annoying, since all the n00bs like to add 50 wads (and there's a great chance of me not having one of them...)

Any ideas on how I can get SRB2 to load files at an actually bearable speed?

First off, exactly how many files is SRB2 searching through?

Second, you sure you should be joining that game in the first place?

And third, how big are the wads you're loading? Mystic Realm sized? One level?

I have the same problem, SRB2 is searching through your entire SRB2 folder.
I can't think of any fix outside of an exe mod.

I used to have that problem, part of the reason was I had too many wads. Another reason (this is a big one!) I had several copies of SRB2's source code in SRB2's subfolders, so it was searching through ALL of that. Clear out your wads from time to time and make sure you never extract SRB2's source (or any source for that matter >_>) into the SRB2 folder or its subdirectories.
