SRB2: 1.1 or 1.10?

1.1 == 1.10. I see no violations of the decimal number system.

Not that it matters anyways, 1.1 won't be seen for quite some time.

Uhh, it's been referred to as "1.1" for god knows how long. "1.10" is the exact same thing, and so is "1.10000000000000000000".

When it's out, the Master Server and the Window will state that it's 1.10 or 1.10.X, but people are simply going to call it 1.1. So I guess everybody wins on this one.

The zero's in a number after a decimal doesn't mater unless there's a number after it. There goes some math.

Actually it DOES matter if it's 1.1 or 1.10 because it's not the same thing.
It's important because developers have absolute freedom in how the make their version numbers work so you need to be precise.

It would be 1.1

For example:
Ubuntu 8.10 is called 8.10 because it came out in October (Month No. 10) in the year 2008. When it would be called 8.1 it would mean it came out in January 2008 after their system.

v1.10 would come out after v1.9 (which I guess is not gonna happen)

That's not a rule. Just a more logical decision often used by the free software community, although still not correct under the decimal system.

The SRB2 version number of 1.1 will be the decimal-correct 1.10.

Well, Silver Sonic, the original intent of the version system was for it to be 1.0.9.4, but the numbering system for SRB2 releases got broken ages ago to make no real sense.

In a normal world, a release of this magnitude would be 2.0, but because we've been calling it 1.1 for years, 1.1 it is.

1.1 is fine because 1.1 = 1.10

this version is 1.09.4, and it's been going for a while since what, 1.01? I dunno

after 1.09 would come 1.10. 1.10 is the same as 1.1, therefore, 1.10 or 1.1 both work.

Don't people consider this version 1.09.5 due to the update?

Well, 1.1 is considered to be the final release. Updates after that will probably be minor, like network fixes. But SRB2ME might be 1.09.5, like you said. We'll have new levels, but it's not all of them. So it can't be 1.1 if the levels aren't even done.

I might start a petition to have SRB2 1.1 renamed to "SRB2 2.0, the STJr experience"
