Speedrun help please?

Hello there! I need help, most of the addon characters I use are for speedrunning, like X Sonic, Or SMS. But I can't do a speedrun with vanilla characters without "SPECAIL" addons! (Like mania dropdash for sonic, or momentum) So I need speedrun tips, Now I don't wanna be a yapper or annoying, but @grindersky and @River . Could i plz get some Speedrun tips?

If you use Sonic, very recommendable that you literally just need to Thok wisely, per example you can use sort of "ramps" on the maps to use Thok on it and then jump, so you will go high depending of the speed of your character.
As Tails, An very useful technique made for speedruns of his are the Spindash and Fly, so you get much speed and take advantage to fly through the map like a JET!
He can also do an Sort of "Chainbox", if you time and hit an badnik and then use Fly, you can go VERY high,
Knuckles, Not Sure. Never really wasted time on speedrunning him

Pratically, i only know Sonic And Tails for speedrunning, if you need more informations just call me (or dont, i am really bad at helping people)

Why thank you @River ! This has been somewhat helpful! Although I need to know if it would be cheating to use boostmentum or momentum in general. If I were to play as Sonic with the Boostmentum addon, that would gain me more speed, but I need to know if using this would not count as a TRUE speedrun.

There isnt such things as "TRUE speedrun."
You can do speedruns the way you want, and if getting a nice record with an addon character, vanilla character or any character is good enough for you, Then you should be proud.
but obviously, the use of Addons would make your Speedrun not Vanilla, EVEN if the speedrun doesnt envolve Modded Characters.
Any sort of addon is pratically modified Game Speedruns, i suppose WAD's that are just music (Purely Cosmetics) shouldnt do difference.

Ok. Nice to know, but... Momentum is a .Wad (so it's not just music) So besides that.... Now that i'm do with vanilla speedruns, Can I get X Sonic speedrun tips?

i dont have much X Sonic tips, sorry.
he is pretty much way too simple of how to speedrun to explain lmao
