Sonic Unleashed's homing attack isn't bad, git gud;

Idk what to put bruh

Imagine saying Sonic Mania has a bad level design.
It's been quite a while since i,ve been here, to resume i started to question my place on this forum and decided to leave and come back when X Sonic releases, and since it did, im back.
Anyway while i was absent i did quite few things, one of these is that i finally played Sonic Unleashed (HD version), great game! the day stages has well made level design and the ranking system (mostly) really forces you to master the level and avoid losing rings to get that S rank. And the night stages are actually fun too, especially when it comes to mastering them and finishing them as quick as you can, using you skills and finding shortcuts is really satisfying, even tho the ranking system could be more fleshed out. But this isn't an Unleashed Review, im here to talk about a quite controversial thing in this game which is

THE HOMING ATTACK.

When it comes to the ability itself, it's pretty good, works as intended, the distance could be called quite generous, and the reticle is a big improvement for this ability (yes, i know it's Secret Rings who introduced the homing reticle). But a quite critisized things about it is THE MAPPING. Basiclly the homing attack is mapped at the X button (on xbox) but the problem is, another ability is mapped to this button, at the begining it's not a problem cuz if you press the X button in the air, you'll just to an air dash like in all other games before, the problem comes when at some point, you unlock the ability to air boost, who as the name implies, let you boost in the air, during a short little time. SO What people blame is that because of that, instead of doing a homing attack, they can do an air boost instead and possibly execute LowTierGod request. BUT let me just says that is totally WRONG. When i played this game, I NEVER EVER did an air boost instead of a homing attack, and everytime it actually did, was cuz i was too early and didn't wait for the reticle, meaning everytime i died by an air boost, it was my fault. Im sorry but you must remember the reticle exist, and before you say an excuse like it's not visble enough or something, not only the shape and color can stand out enough from the location, there is a sound when an enemy is locked. So im sorry but even having the homing attack on the jump button is better, i agree with this. There is nothing wrong with the Unleashed one. With that said, can we entierly blame them? I don't think so, you see, i was playing Unleashed on an Xbox Series S with FPS boost, meaning i had a constant 60 FPS and the input automaticlly responded. But the thing is, on XBOB 360 and PS3, Unleashed tends to run less effectivily, especially on ps3, since on XBOX, it's locked on 30 FPS while on ps3 it's an uncapped framerate, and from what i know, lower FPS can result to something called input lag, which is basiclly a delay between when you press a button, and when the the action the button do, is executed. So what i think is, due to this input lag, the delay made that when the action of homing attack was executed, the reticle was already gone, tho i kinda doubt about this since the homing reticle is usually kinda fair in the time it gives you, the only example of short time homing attack is in Dragon Road act 1 where you don't have much time to attack a robot, tho i'd say it's a mistake from the devs since even if you homing attack it, you might not touch it, so probably some bad placement.

ANYWAY, this is why i think the homing attack in Sonic Unleashed isn't a problem. I don't know what awaits me for this come back on the message board, but i hope it will be well.
With that said, i think i might go play Mania, or Adventure 2, Bye-Bye!:wonderful:
