It's about time.

EDIT for fear of double post: Issue 35 of Official Nintendo Magazine explained the Wii version. From a topic on the Sonic boards on IGN:

* It has a smooth framerate.
* The only major difference in the Wii version(aside from the graphics) is that some of the paths are a little bit wider, in order to make use of Sonic's drift move.
* Town stages seem to be accessed through point-and-click menus. These sections will simply consist of still screens with text dialogue and can also be skipped if needed. They can be accessed through a menu screen where you could select different parts of the city and speak to people there. This is likely exclusive to the Wii version.
* The Mykonos-based stage is called "Cokotos".
* The Italy-based stage is called "Spagnolia".
* "One or two surprise characters will appear in the story".

They loved it, ending it with this quote.


"If you’re a Sonic fan and you’ve been wary of getting too excited, we can officially assure you that it’s now safe to do so. This is Well on its way to being a fantastic Sonic game."

Sounds pretty good so far.

Wait.... The town stages are menus? What the crap?

Whoot! This will be a fantastic game!
 
I honestly can't wait for the Wii trailer. Seriously, almost a month to the game's release and just now we find out what it plays like?
 
But what if the game play is like Sonic Wildfire? (I know its Sonic and the Secret Rings but Sonic Wildfire was a better name) Wait nvm I forgot the Werehog
