Sonic the Hedgehog - Piano Collections

Sonic the Hedgehog
Piano Collections
----------------------------------------------------------------

What is the Piano Collections project?
I've loved Sonic the Hedgehog and its music ever since I was kid. For 5 years, Sonic 2 was the only game I owned, and one of the only games I've ever played alongside my dad. He wrote down the patterns for the silver sonic fight on Death Egg Zone, and he would pause it after every attack to read up on what the next move was. I played through it constantly, to the point of mastery, and love it even to this day. I've decided to make a series of arrangements of my favorites from Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2. Potentially from other games as well in the future. Since this is going to be a large project over a big span of time, I thought I'd share it here. I hope you enjoy the music!

UPDATES
1/12/2021 - Sheet Music for Aquatic Ruin Zone is now available on musicnotes. Link in the video description!

Track 1
Aquatic Ruin Zone

This arrangement of Aquatic Ruin Zone features both elements of classical and jazz piano.
The mood shifts from playful tango, to dramatic and powerful, to soft and sentimental.
I hope you enjoy it.

Lovely arrangement... You really know how to use the full range of the piano to create a very sonorous arrangement! I will be keeping my eye on your channel :D

Thank you, Lach! I really wanted to cover a range of emotions through this arrangement, and I think you nailed it in your comment. A huge part of that was really using the different ranges and playing to their strengths. Starting out in the center of the piano and gradually moving outwards until the left and right hand had a huge contrast in ranges really added to that rising intensity as well. Thank you for listening, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I think this is by far my favorite arrangement of anything I've ever done! I should have tried arranging Sonic music a long time ago, not sure why I never gave it a shot until now. Anywho, I'm working on Casino Night Zone now, but it's going to be a pretty different feel. Definitely more upbeat and playful jazz. Thanks again for your kind words!

It sounds so mysterious, I love it.
Thank you, Weekblues! It definitely does, I think part of that is the playful rhythm, melody, and chords complemented with some feel of sorrow through chromatics and dissonant notes thrown in there. It gives it a really interesting juxtaposition of both joy and sorrow. Thanks for listening!

Also, Casino Night Zone is in the works and it's going pretty well so far! I'm hoping to finish it up by the end of the month. After that...we'll see! Maybe Starlight Zone?
