That really isn't as good as I was hoping.

Part of what made the Sonic 2 ending my favorite was the fact that the ending was still images in black and white, which although the black and white was probably to save space, I think it actually made the ending BETTER, because it complemented the music so well.

Maybe I'm just one of those old school whiners that just complains about 3D graphics too much.
