Soccing a Stay-Away-Boss...(I think I'm rustin away here...)

Ok I am still making my mod but I need to know how to soc one of the bosses to keep it's distance from sonic or who ever while firing attacks simultaniously... Can this be done? If so, how? Could anyone help me?
